Climco Coils Company is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to take technical ownership of a high-volume manufacturing operation. This is not a position for someone who wants to spend the majority of the day behind a desk. We are looking for an engineer who is comfortable being on the production floor, understands how equipment operates, recognizes problems before they become downtime, and takes initiative to improve the process. The Manufacturing Engineer will serve as the primary engineering resource for our high volumne production area and will develop a deep understanding of the equipment, tooling, processes, controls, and recurring technical issues within the operation. What You'll Own You will take an active role in the day-to-day performance and long-term improvement of the manufacturing equipment and processes.
Responsibilities include:
Develop a thorough working knowledge of all line manufacturing equipment, tooling, processes, controls, and test systems. Spend significant time on the production floor observing equipment performance and working directly with technicians, supervisors, Cell Leaders, and operators. Take technical ownership of equipment reliability and process performance rather than waiting for production problems to be escalated. Troubleshoot equipment, tooling, automation, process, and quality issues and drive problems through permanent resolution. Identify recurring downtime and chronic equipment issues and develop corrective actions to eliminate them. Recommend and implement equipment, tooling, automation, and process improvements that increase uptime, throughput, quality, safety, and efficiency. Use production data, downtime information, scrap, cycle-time observations, and operator feedback to identify improvement opportunities. Establish and improve preventive maintenance requirements, equipment standards, troubleshooting documentation, and technical work instructions. Support new equipment installations, modifications, process changes, validation activities, and production launches. Work closely with Maintenance, Quality, Production, Tooling, and Engineering to resolve manufacturing issues. Provide technical direction, training, and development to Assistant Technicians assigned to the production area. Help establish priorities and expectations for technical support activities as familiarity with the operation develops. Maintain documentation related to equipment modifications, processes, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and processes. Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to work directly with equipment on the production floor. Experience with automated or semi-automated manufacturing equipment preferred. Experience with injection molding, machining, assembly equipment, robotics, PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, or end-of-line testing is beneficial. Ability to analyze problems, determine root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions. Strong organizational and project-management skills. Ability to communicate effectively with operators, technicians, supervisors, engineers, suppliers, and management. Self-directed and comfortable taking ownership without waiting for problems or assignments to be brought to you. The Person Who Will Be Successful Here The right engineer will naturally walk the production area and ask: What's not running the way it should? Why? And what can we do to make it better? We are looking for someone who develops ownership of the manufacturing process—not simply someone who responds when equipment breaks. You should enjoy understanding how machines work, solving problems alongside the people operating them, and making measurable improvements to manufacturing performance.
