General Production Worker Job Description Pay:
1st shift: 17/hr , 2nd shift $18/hr This role supports a high-volume wood products production operation by drilling, assembling, inspecting, and handling lumber materials. You work with hand and power tools to build and finish wood mats according to production specifications while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work area and consistently meeting production deadlines. Responsibilities Drill holes into wood mats accurately according to established production specifications. Insert wood plugs and bits into pre-drilled holes and securely fasten them using a sledgehammer or other appropriate tools. Inspect finished products to verify quality, accuracy, and adherence to production standards. Handle, move, and stage lumber and wood materials throughout the production process. Operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently as part of daily production tasks. Perform repetitive, labor-intensive tasks while maintaining consistent output and quality. Use measuring tools such as tape measures to confirm dimensions and ensure products meet required specifications. Support general production and construction-related tasks as needed to keep workflow moving smoothly. Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on the production floor. Meet or exceed production deadlines by working efficiently and coordinating with team members. Assist with basic inspection and quality checks at various stages of the production process. Contribute to material handling activities, which may include heavy lifting and moving products or components. Operate or assist with equipment such as forklifts if trained and authorized. Report any defects, equipment issues, or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel promptly. Why Work Here? Work Environment You work on the production floor in a well-organized and generally clean facility focused on wood products manufacturing. The environment can become dusty at times due to wood shavings, and temperatures may be warmer in the summer and colder in the winter. You regularly use hand tools, power tools, tape measures, and may work around forklifts and other material-handling equipment. The role is physically demanding, with frequent heavy lifting and repetitive tasks, and requires adherence to safety practices and maintaining a tidy work area throughout the shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.60 - $17.60/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
