Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Structural Fitter / Shipfitter to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and welding metal components with precision and adherence to technical drawings and safety standards. Your expertise will contribute to the construction and repair of complex structures, ensuring they meet rigorous quality and safety requirements. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, utilizing your mechanical knowledge and fabrication skills to deliver exceptional results. Responsibilities Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to accurately assemble metal components. Measure and mark materials using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise cuts and fits. Use power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and welding equipment—including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)—to cut, weld, and assemble metal parts. Fabricate sheet metal structures, ductwork, and other metal components following AWS (American Welding Society) standards and safety protocols. Perform assembly tasks on construction sites or in fabrication shops, including the use of cranes and other lifting equipment for heavy components. Conduct quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, and measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances. Maintain a clean, safe work environment by adhering to safety procedures and protocols at all times. Experience Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes. Hands-on experience with welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, and plasma cutting. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints accurately. Familiarity with shop math, measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers, and basic math skills necessary for precise fabrication. Knowledge of safety protocols related to welding, heavy lifting with cranes, power tools, and working in industrial environments. Previous experience working in fabrication shops or manufacturing facilities specializing in metal materials or sheet metal fabrication is highly desirable.
