HOW THIS ROLE SUPPORTS OUR MISSION
The Kettle Assistant plays an important role in helping PGI Foods produce safe, consistent, high-quality soups. Working alongside experienced kettle room operators, this position supports the cooking process by adding ingredients, monitoring batch details, following approved recipes, and maintaining accurate production records. This role directly supports food safety, product consistency, and efficient production by following HACCP, GMP, sanitation, and company procedures. The Kettle Assistant helps keep the kettle room organized, communicates issues promptly, and supports the team wherever needed.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Add ingredients to cook kettles following approved recipes and formulas. Monitor cook temperatures and times throughout each batch. Keep accurate production records, including time, temperature, and batch information. Follow food safety protocols, including HACCP and GMP requirements, and report concerns immediately. Keep the kettle room and work area clean, organized, and ready for production. Support kettle room operators and team members wherever needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Reliable and detail-oriented with the ability to follow procedures and take food safety seriously. Comfortable working in a hot, fast-paced production environment. Able to lift up to 60 lbs. and remain on your feet throughout the shift. Basic math skills, including fractions and measurements. High school diploma or GED required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two or more years of experience in food manufacturing or industrial production are preferred, but we are willing to train the right person. Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred. Ability to read, understand, and follow written recipes, batch sheets, and work instructions. Strong attendance and punctuality record. Ability to work safely around hot equipment, steam, and moving machinery. Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends as needed to support production schedules. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members. Commitment to following all food safety, quality, and sanitation procedures. Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, food safety, and sanitation practices. Experience in a USDA- or FDA-regulated manufacturing environment.
