Job Description

Grain Mill Production Worker Join a growing family farm and agricultural business in Clear Spring, MD. We grow grain on our farm, store it in our bins, process it onsite, manufacture livestock and poultry feeds, and distribute our products throughout the local area. Producing grain and turning it into finished feed products is an important part of how our family farm continues to grow and thrive in modern agriculture. If you enjoy working around agriculture, equipment, and grain but are looking for steady, year-round employment, this position offers the opportunity to work in a modern farm and feed mill environment with a consistent schedule. We are looking for someone to fill a versatile, hands-on role involving grain handling, feed production, and equipment operation. Depending on the day, you may be mixing livestock feed, operating grain cleaning and processing equipment, running feed packing equipment, operating a forklift or tractor, loading trucks, handling ingredients, or helping with other jobs around the mill and farm. This position is a great fit for someone with a farming or agricultural background who enjoys operating equipment, working with their hands, and having variety in their work. During busy cropping seasons, there may also be opportunities to assist with field operations and other farm work. The ideal candidate has experience operating agricultural equipment, good mechanical aptitude, and is comfortable safely operating and learning modern grain milling, material-handling, and farm equipment. This Role Includes Operating feed mixing, processing, and packing equipment Mixing livestock and poultry feeds according to established formulas Operating grain cleaning and processing equipment Operating tractors, off-road forklifts, and other basic farm equipment Operating warehouse forklifts and pallet jacks Handling bulk and bagged grain and feed ingredients Filling, weighing, sealing, and stacking bags of feed and grain products Loading and unloading trucks Filling wholesale and customer feed orders Performing routine cleaning and basic maintenance around the mill Occasionally assisting with farm and cropping operations as needed We are looking for a dependable, hardworking individual who is comfortable operating equipment and takes pride in producing a quality product. This is a hands-on position that involves working independently as well as alongside other members of our production team. The right candidate should be able to safely operate equipment, follow instructions, recognize when something isn't operating correctly, and take responsibility for keeping their work area and equipment in good condition. There are opportunities to learn additional equipment, take on more responsibility, and grow with the business over time. Schedule & Benefits 10-hour shifts: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Primarily a 4 day, but sometimes 5-day work week Monday through Friday schedule with a Saturday Morning about once every 4-6 weeks. retirement plan with company matching after one year Incentive pay program Requirements Class C Drivers License Must be comfortable operating basic farm and material-handling equipment Must be able to routinely lift 50 lbs Comfortable working around grain, feed, machinery, and moving equipment Ability to work in a fast-paced agricultural production environment Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments where dust, noise, heat, and cold may be present Ability to safely operate or learn to operate feed mill and grain processing equipment Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to recognize common equipment or operating problems Dependable and able to work independently when needed Positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed Grain handling, feed mill, farming, manufacturing, or similar production experience is preferred Primary Responsibilities Operate feed mixing and grain processing equipment Operate feed packing lines and bag stacking equipment Measure and handle ingredients used in livestock feed production Fill, weigh, seal, label, and stack bags of grain and feed products Monitor equipment during operation and identify basic operating problems Operate grain cleaning and grain handling equipment Operate tractors, off-road forklifts, warehouse forklifts, and other material-handling equipment Move bulk ingredients and finished products throughout the facility Load and unload trucks Fill wholesale and customer orders accurately Maintain a clean and organized production and mill area Assist with routine equipment cleaning and preventative maintenance Follow established safety, quality, and production procedures Occasionally assist with farm equipment operation and seasonal cropping activities Perform other feed mill, grain facility, and production duties as needed Starting pay is based on experience. If yes, briefly describe the equipment you have operated and your experience with it. Please briefly describe any previous experience you have working on a farm, around grain or livestock, in a feed mill, or in another agricultural environment. Are you comfortable routinely lifting 50 lbs and working around grain, dust, noise, machinery, and outdoor weather conditions? This position works Tuesday through Friday from 7:00 AM-5:00 PM, with an occasional Saturday morning approximately once every 4-6 weeks. Are you able to reliably work this schedule? Do you have a valid Class C driver's license and a clean enough driving record to operate company vehicles when needed?
