Hands-On Day-Shift Position With Training and Advancement Engage Print is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined individual to join our production team in Northfield. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with their hands, takes pride in doing accurate work and wants to develop valuable production and equipment-operation skills. Initial responsibilities include shipping and receiving, deliveries, hand-finishing work, equipment and facility maintenance, and general production assistance. As the employee gains experience and demonstrates ability, opportunities will be available to train on printing presses, mailing equipment, and bindery and finishing machinery. Previous printing experience is not required. We are willing to train someone who brings a strong work ethic, mechanical curiosity and a genuine desire to learn. Responsibilities Prepare, package and label completed customer orders Organize jobs for shipping, delivery or customer pickup Receive paper, supplies and other incoming materials Verify deliveries and help maintain paper and supply inventories Make deliveries using a company vehicle Perform hand-finishing work, including counting, sorting, collating, padding, packing and other production tasks Assist equipment operators with job setup, material handling and production Help perform routine preventive maintenance on printing, mailing and bindery equipment Assist experienced employees with troubleshooting and equipment repairs Identify and report equipment, facility or safety concerns Perform general building and grounds maintenance, including lawn care and seasonal outdoor work Maintain clean, safe and organized production, warehouse and exterior work areas Read and follow job tickets, written instructions and established procedures Inspect work and materials for accuracy and quality Assist throughout production as workloads and schedules require Learn to operate printing, mailing, bindery or finishing equipment based on ability, interest and company needs Qualifications Strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in understanding how equipment works Dependable attendance and ability to arrive ready to work on schedule Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record Ability to safely operate a company delivery vehicle Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation Ability to stand, walk, bend and perform physical work for extended periods Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Excellent attention to detail Ability to follow instructions, prioritize work and meet deadlines Commitment to safe work practices Ability to work independently and notice what needs to be done Willingness to help in different areas as production needs change Experience in printing, manufacturing, maintenance, warehousing, shipping, automotive work, equipment operation or another hands-on environment is helpful but not required. Training and Growth Opportunities Depending on the employee's interests, performance and aptitude, future training may include: Digital or offset printing presses Mailing and inkjet-addressing equipment Cutting, folding, stitching and other bindery equipment Equipment setup, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting Shipping, inventory and production coordination Our goal is to hire someone who can contribute immediately while developing the technical skills necessary to take on greater production responsibilities.
Pay:
$18.00 - $23.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
