Industrial Paint Helper Job Summary We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Paint Helper to assist with painting and coating steel products in a manufacturing environment. The Paint Helper will support painters with surface preparation, material handling, equipment setup, cleanup, and general production duties. The ideal candidate is hardworking, detail-oriented, and able to work safely in an industrial environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist industrial painters with preparing steel surfaces for painting and coating. Clean, sand, grind, scrape, or otherwise prepare steel surfaces as directed. Assist with masking and protecting areas that should not receive paint or coating. Move, position, and stage steel parts and materials for painting. Load and unload steel products, materials, and painting supplies. Assist with setting up hoses, spray equipment, ventilation, tarps, and other painting equipment. Mix or prepare paints, primers, coatings, and related materials according to instructions. Assist painters with spray, brush, and roller applications as directed. Inspect surfaces and finished products for missed areas, runs, drips, or other coating imperfections. Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and equipment. Clean painting equipment, hoses, brushes, rollers, and work areas after use. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements. Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators when required and properly trained. Follow proper procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of paint, solvents, and other chemicals. Communicate equipment, material, quality, or safety concerns to the supervisor. Perform other production and painting-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous industrial painting, steel fabrication, manufacturing, or construction experience is preferred but not required. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Willingness to learn industrial painting and coating procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Ability to work safely around heavy steel, machinery, paint equipment, and industrial materials. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, and work from elevated platforms. Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment as required. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, paint fumes, and varying temperatures. Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods. Safety Requirements Safety is a critical responsibility of this position. Employees must follow all company safety procedures, use required PPE, maintain a clean work area, and immediately report unsafe conditions, injuries, spills, or equipment problems to management.
