Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Shear Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating industrial shearing equipment to accurately cut sheet metal and other materials according to precise specifications. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency with various machining tools, and a commitment to safety standards. Duties Set up and operate shear machines, ensuring proper alignment and calibration for accurate cuts Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and shop math to determine cutting parameters Utilize measuring instruments and precision measurement tools to verify dimensions and quality of finished products Maintain safety protocols during machine operation, including proper use of personal protective equipment Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on shear equipment to ensure optimal performance Assist with the setup and operation of related machinery such as press brakes, CNC laser cutters, plasma cutters, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, and forming machines Conduct quality inspections on cut materials, ensuring adherence to specifications and tolerances Collaborate with team members on assembly processes and metal fabrication tasks Follow safety standards in production environments and adhere to company policies for safe machine operation Experience Proven experience operating shear machines within a manufacturing or metal fabrication setting Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of CNC programming, CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, and other machining processes Familiarity with interpreting technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and shop math Experience with welding, forming machines, measurement instruments, and quality inspection techniques Ability to operate hand tools and precision measuring instruments effectively Knowledge of safety standards related to machine operation and metal fabrication environments Basic understanding of electrical discharge machining (EDM), press operation, sheet metal fabrication, and assembly processes Mechanical knowledge that supports efficient machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting This position is ideal for candidates committed to precision craftsmanship in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
