Production Support / Material Handler Part-Time Night Shift 6:00pm to 4:30am (compressed workweeks) Vancouver, WA Job Description This entry-level manufacturing role focuses on supporting crystal growing and semiconductor production by cleaning large industrial machinery, managing graphite part replacement, and maintaining clean room 5S standards. You follow detailed procedures and documentation to complete a structured daily workload safely, accurately, and on time, while working with heavy materials, hazardous chemicals, and sophisticated equipment in a fast-paced production environment. Responsibilities Follow complex, detailed procedures and documentation to complete daily cleaning and production support tasks accurately and on schedule. Clean large industrial machinery according to established product specifications, Standard Work Procedures (SWPs), Response Flow Charts (RFCs), control charts, and other process documentation. Manage graphite part replacement, including opening boxes, handling graphite components, and accurately recording all part changes in machine clean records. Review the daily machine clean list and create a schedule to ensure all required cleans are completed at the correct intervals. Use a computer and software tools to input data, track graphite part replacements, and complete computerized forms related to machine cleaning and maintenance. Continuously monitor data and setup processes to verify that all parameters meet quality and area requirements during and after each process step. Report, correct, and help prevent quality issues, variations, errors, or lapses, ensuring problems do not recur. Identify and communicate suggestions for process and safety improvements to supervisors or appropriate team members. Perform 5S activities to clean equipment and work areas, ensuring clean room standards and overall workplace organization are consistently maintained. Work safely around hazardous and volatile chemicals, following all safety regulations and using required PPE at all times. Operate lift equipment and handling tools to load, unload, raise, lower, and transport materials, products, and equipment safely. Move, lift, and open boxes of graphite parts weighing approximately 10-200 pounds and push carts weighing approximately 20-275 pounds. Cut open, lift, and move bags containing approximately 11 pounds of poly silicon rock pieces up to about 300 times during a 12-hour shift when needed. Move an average of 4,400 pounds of material within a 12-hour period twice (loading and unloading), using appropriate tools and equipment. Exert up to and in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly to move objects while walking or standing during long shifts. Complete training and then safely use various handling tools for heavy parts and materials. Work in kneeling, bending, and crouching positions as required, including lifting parts and using hand tools in these positions. Perform repetitive motion tasks such as grasping, reaching, pushing, and pulling while maintaining attention to detail and quality. Use lock out / tag out (LOTO) procedures to ensure equipment is properly de-energized when required for cleaning or maintenance. Understand and follow all safety regulations, including the use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and immediately report accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions. Request guidance and safety training as needed to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others. Use close visual inspection to identify errors, defects, and issues in small parts, materials, and documentation within arm's length. Prepare, analyze, and review data through extensive reading and visual inspection of fabrication details, numbers, and written instructions. Apply basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and compute percentages and decimals using a calculator for production-related tasks. Communicate effectively in English with management and co-workers to clarify instructions, report issues, and coordinate work. Read and write in English to understand and complete instructions, procedures, technical manuals, reports, and correspondence. Support on-call and coverage requirements by working overtime when needed for vacations, absences, or other mandatory coverage. Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality assurance, teamwork, and attention to detail in all aspects of production support. Essential Skills Ability to follow complex, detailed manufacturing procedures and documentation with high accuracy and attention to detail. Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate percentages and decimals using a calculator. Physical ability to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly to move objects over a 12-hour shift. Ability to lift and move approximately 11 pounds of poly silicon rock pieces repeatedly during long shifts when required. Comfort working in a magnetic field environment, with medical clearance required if foreign metal objects or metallic/electronic medical devices are present. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in manufacturing operations, manufacturing processes, or manufacturing quality is beneficial. Exposure to crystal growing or semiconductor manufacturing environments is an advantage. Familiarity with process capability concepts and continuous improvement practices is helpful. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing facility with large industrial machinery, crystal growing and semiconductor production equipment, and a mix of standard and clean room areas. The position is part-time on the night shift, working from 6:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. with a 1-hour unpaid lunch, three days per week on an alternating weekly schedule: one week Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday (28.5 hours) and the following week Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday (38 hours). The environment includes loud machinery, somewhat dirty production areas, and strict safety protocols. You work in a magnetic field environment and around hazardous or volatile chemicals, following all safety regulations. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in production areas, including safety glasses, nitrile gloves, protective sleeves, face shield, and composite toe safety shoes. Additional gowning requirements apply in various areas, such as clean room suits, coveralls, two-piece uniforms, or smocks; earplugs are optional, and additional PPE such as cotton or cut-resistant gloves may be required depending on the task. Work involves frequent standing, walking, stair use, lifting and moving heavy materials, pushing carts, and operating lift equipment and handling tools. Clean room 5S standards guide cleanliness and organization, and the facility emphasizes strict adherence to safety procedures and documentation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $22.00/hr.
