Quality Control Manager - Electronic Contract Manufacturing The Quality Control Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining quality throughout the PCBA manufacturing process. This is a hands-on position that works directly with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and customers to ensure assemblies consistently meet customer requirements and applicable IPC standards. Key Responsibilities Perform and oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspections of PCB assemblies. Monitor SMT, reflow, wave soldering, hand soldering, cleaning, conformal coating, and testing processes. Review AOI and other inspection results and ensure defects are properly addressed. Identify production quality issues and work directly with operators and supervisors to resolve them. Manage nonconforming material, rework, repairs, and product disposition. Investigate customer complaints and internal quality issues and implement corrective actions. Maintain inspection records, quality documentation, calibration records, and product traceability. Ensure employees follow established workmanship, ESD, inspection, and manufacturing procedures. Work with Engineering and Production to improve processes, reduce defects, and increase first-pass yield. Support customer audits and respond to customer quality requirements. Maintain familiarity with IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and customer-specific workmanship requirements. Qualifications 3-5+ years of quality experience in electronics manufacturing, PCBA, or EMS/ECM. Strong understanding of SMT and through-hole assembly processes. Experience with AOI, solder inspection, wave soldering, and PCBA workmanship. Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and
J-STD-001.
Experience with root-cause analysis and corrective action. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability and willingness to work directly on the manufacturing floor.
Quality Authority:
The Quality Control Manager has the authority to place material or product on hold and stop production or shipment when quality requirements are not being met. The position is expected to maintain quality standards while working collaboratively with Production to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
