Midsouth Aggregates is seeking a strategic and technically strong leader to serve as our next Director of Technical Services. This highly visible role will oversee quality, laboratory, technical services, product performance, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives across a network of 12 aggregate operations. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced construction materials, mining, aggregates, asphalt, or concrete professional to build and elevate a regional technical services organization while directly influencing product quality, operational performance, customer satisfaction, and business growth. The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 10-12 quality and technical professionals while creating scalable systems, standards, and processes that support continued growth across the organization. Why This Role Is Different This is not simply a quality control position.
This leader will:
Establish and scale a best-in-class technical services program. Standardize quality processes across multiple operating locations. Develop technical talent and leadership capabilities throughout the organization. Serve as the company's technical authority on aggregate products and specifications. Partner with operations leadership to improve consistency, performance, and customer outcomes. Build stronger relationships with DOTs, customers, consultants, and industry stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Technical Services & Quality Leadership Lead all quality, laboratory, and technical services activities across 12 aggregate operations. Develop and implement a long-term vision for technical services and quality excellence. Establish common standards, procedures, and performance expectations across all locations. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on compliance, consistency, and operational performance. Program Development Build, enhance, and scale technical services capabilities throughout the organization. Create systems, metrics, reporting tools, and best practices that support sustainable growth. Develop data-driven performance measures and accountability processes. Evaluate and implement new testing technologies and quality management practices. Team Leadership Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 10-12 technical and quality professionals. Build organizational capability through training, mentoring, and succession planning. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Customer & Industry Support Provide technical expertise to customers, DOT agencies, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders. Support resolution of product performance concerns and quality investigations. Represent the company within industry associations and regulatory organizations.
Requirements:
We're seeking a leader who has successfully managed quality and technical programs in a multi-site environment and understands how to build processes, teams, and systems that drive long-term performance.
Qualifications:
Education Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Geology, Materials Science, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred. Experience Extensive knowledge of aggregate quality standards and testing procedures. Thorough understanding of ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and MSHA regulations. Experience with laboratory quality management systems. Strong analytical and statistical process control skills. Proficiency with laboratory information management systems and Microsoft Office applications. Strong report writing, presentation, and communication skills. 10+ years in aggregates, construction materials, asphalt, concrete, mining, or related industries. Minium of 5 Years of Leadership experience overseeing multiple locations or regional operations. Strong quality assurance, quality control, and materials testing background Experience with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrated success building or improving technical services, laboratory, or quality programs. Proven experience leading and developing technical teams. Technical Skills Extensive knowledge of aggregate quality standards and testing procedures. Thorough understanding of ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and MSHA regulations. Experience with laboratory quality management systems. Strong analytical and statistical process control skills. Proficiency with laboratory information management systems and Microsoft Office applications. Strong report writing, presentation, and communication skills.
