  • $120,000 a year 15 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Professional ethics Driver's License Computer skills Budgeting Full Job Description Job Description Job Summary The Area Manager, Technical Services (Aggregates) plays a crucial role in overseeing the delivery of technical support and services within a designated area of an aggregates company.
They ensure the efficient operation of technical systems, resolve complex issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. This role requires a blend of strong technical knowledge in aggregates production and processing, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders. Assist plant management in implementing Business plans and strategic quality control and assurance initiatives. Develop workable solutions to business plan and product issues through the use of good judgment and analytical skills. Essential Functions
  • Maintain compliance of the quality control laboratories and the calibrating of test equipment as required by governing agencies.
  • Conduct independent compliance sampling, testing, and audits of the QC labs and procedures at plants and sales yards. Report findings to plant management and key division management.
  • Assist Business Units with the belt sampling program for crushers and screens including auditing compliance.
  • Participate in plant optimization efforts.
  • Assist plant management in the interpretation of testing data to improve plant optimization and efficiencies. Understand the plant flows and production processes for assigned Business Units.
  • Assist sales and marketing efforts by having a high degree of product knowledge and; applications.
  • Investigate, resolve and document customer complaints.
  • Assist in the hiring, training and development of new and existing Process Technicians.
  • Perform all Process Technician duties and fill in as needed.
  • Assist in the development of new and improved quality control testing procedures and standardization.
  • Train Process Technicians and Operations Managers on the product quality database.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred
  • B.S. Degree preferred in a related technical field with expertise in construction materials characterization and applications.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of company products, end-use products, design and evaluation methods, personnel and resource management skills, and budgeting. Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in experience in aggregates operations or related heavy industry, including leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in construction materials design, production and construction such as aggregate, hot mix asphalt, ready mix concrete, cement, DOT labs and/or the mining industry highly preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of aggregate production methods, equipment, and quality control procedures, along with familiarity with industry standards and best practices.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate teams, manage projects, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Must sustain high ethical and moral standards, ability to inspire creativity, integrity, stewardship and loyalty with peers.
  • High degree of product knowledge and application of product end usage.
  • Ability to anticipate, plan and coordinate events, and proactively think through hypothetical "what if" scenarios to develop contingency plans.
  • Thorough understanding of ledge qualities, blending scenarios and plant setups to determine how proposed mine plans and plant changes could impact a plant's ability to meet quality and State agency requirements.
  • Understanding of all VMC quality information systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; self-directed and motivated; highly organized. Other Requirements
  • Use of telephone, computers, cell phones and other electronic devices is essential;
  • Must have the ability sit for long periods of time;
  • Travel in area of responsibility as well as a periodic need to travel by airline.
  • Must have a current valid driver's license.
  • Must have the ability to occasionally climb heights.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision-making. Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner. Salary Range. This is a salaried position. The salary range for this role, including the regional supplement, is between $108,000
  • 120,000 annually.
When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data. FAVR. This position is eligible for a vehicle reimbursement program. Bonus/Equity Package. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package, which also applies to this position.
