We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quality Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and possess strong attention to detail, problem solving abilities and a collaborative mindset. The Quality Manager will develop, implement and evaluate the QMS to ensure the organization's production operations, from raw materials to finished products, meet the quality integrity, and efficiency standards set by the organization. This working manager hands on position will involve dimensional inspections, documentation, root cause, corrective actions, nonconforming product, audits, first article inspections and AS9100D implementation. Regular interaction with Production, Shipping and other departments to support quality requirements, resolve nonconformances, and ensure compliance with customer and company standards.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct, oversee and train the quality control department and supervisory staff.
- Develop quality staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluates production operations from a strategic level to ensure that products meet quality, integrity, functionality, and other specifications and requirements.
- Participate in the AS9100 Rev D implementation process under the direction of the Management Representative and assume the lead responsibility for QMS maintenance, internal audits, management review support and ongoing compliance upon certification.
- Support the Management Representative function, including maintaining the QMS, reporting quality performance to leadership and service as primary contact for certification body audits.
- Oversee the document control system including maintenance of the Master Document List, controlled document distributions and revision control in accordance with the company's procedures.
- Develop, monitor and report on quality objectives in accordance with AS9100 Rev D.
- Support supplier quality activities including supplier evaluation, approved supplier list maintenance & review of supplier nonconformances.
- Manage the calibration program including maintaining the calibration master list, scheduling calibration of measuring equipment and ensuring calibration records are current.
- Collaborates with management and senior staff across production departments and roles to draft acceptable quality standards.
- Develops and implements quality standard testing and evaluation processes.
- Reviews quality control documentation including checklists, logs, inspection reports, nonconformance records for effectiveness, accuracy, and relevance.
- Prepare, complete and submit customer-required corrective action documentation including 8D reports, 5-Why analyses, Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) and other nonconformance response documents in accordance with customer requirements and deadlines.
- Serve as the primary quality contact for customer inquiries, complaints and corrective action requests communicating directly with customer quality representatives to resolve nonconformances and maintain customer satisfaction.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding incoming material nonconformances, corrective action requirements and quality expectations in support of supplier quality objectives.
- Periodically reports status of quality control and operations to executive leadership and, when required, regulatory agencies.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications and schematics to verify product conformance
- Utilize precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, ring gauges, and thread gauges
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections throughout all stages of production
- Ensure products and materials comply with engineering drawings, purchase orders, customer requirements, and internal quality standards prior to releasing approved materials and finished products to Production and Shipping.
- Maintain documentation in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS) requirements including Inspection, Calibration, CAPA, & Nonconformance logs
- Identify, tag, segregate and quarantine non-conforming materials; communicate findings and initiate containment actions
- Prepare and provide Certificates of Compliance (COCs) for all customer orders.
- Internal and external quality audit activities as needed
- Independently troubleshoot and address quality issues
- Support special projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and additional duties as assigned
- Communicate effectively and collaborate with multiple departments to maintain product quality and operational efficiency. QUALIFICATIONS, (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):
- US work authorization (required)
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a quality control role within a manufacturing environment
- Supervisory experience preferred; demonstrated ability to lead, train and direct quality personnel
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications
- Experience with international Quality System Standards, such as
AS9100D, ISO
etc.
- Knowledge of safety requirements and legal standards
- Ability to understand and use basic inspection tools: calipers, micrometers, optical comparator/shadowgraph, etc..
- Effective communication in English, verbally and written (required)
- Spanish speaking a plus!
- Team-oriented, customer-focused work ethic and time management skills
- Experience managing customer and supplier quality relationships including direct communication on nonconformances and corrective actions.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, MS Word, and MS Excel
- Experience with manufacturing ERP systems (EVO a plus!)
- Well-developed problem solving and decision-making abilities
- Collaborative attitude and desire to develop through learning
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports directly to the Vice President/General Manager and collaborates closely with various departments, including Purchasing, Manufacturing, Shipping, Sales & Accounting to support quality objectives, operational performance, and customer satisfaction.
Pay:
$95,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
