Quality Assurance Manager About the Company High Tech Turning (HTT) is a modern CNC Machine Shop. We produce high-volume, high-precision machined components for medical devices. We have 40 employees and operate out of Watertown, MA. The company was founded in 1985 and we have many employees that have been here over 20 years with some over 30. In 2025 we made over 9 million custom CNC machined parts. Many of our tolerances are as tight as +/- 0.0002 inches. //www.hightechturning.com Quality Assurance Manager Job Responsibilities Be a leader in HTT's inspection department, manage and mentor the 3+ inspectors, have significant manufacturing experience, and excellent manufacturing judgement. Take a proactive approach to maintaining and improving quality output for the shop. Help department managers develop methods and techniques for monitoring production to improve process control. Analyze discrepant materials and find the root cause of the discrepancies Lead the inspection team, act as subject matter expert and an arbiter to resolve disputes about part quality. Work with other department managers and operators to communicate about and resolve quality issues that may arise. Oversee the measurement tool calibration system, and order additional devices and gages as required. Lead the Material Review Board (MRB) to disposition any "Discrepant Material" that may occur, including documenting issues and working to resolve them. Help the quality team to develop appropriate inspection plans, drawings, and documents. Help write and manage the CMM programs for the inspection department Analyze output to assure all parts are in compliance with customer requirements. Contact customers and vendors to help resolve any quality issues in manufacturing. Requirements Local candidates only Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field or equivalent work experience. 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing field, ideally in an ISO-9000 or
ISO-13485
certified company. 2-5+ years of direct machine shop experience. Ability to read and understand mechanical technical drawings. Very familiar with standard high precision inspection equipment, including micrometers, calipers, drop indicators, measuring microscopes, optical comparator, CMM and vision-based automatic inspection systems. Familiarity with Minitab or similar analysis package is a plus Familiar with MS windows, and MS office, especially MS Excel. Strong CMM experience (including programming) would be a big plus. Experience with SPC a major plus What you need to succeed Team player with easy-going attitude. Works well both independently and with others. Excellent manufacturing judgement and an ability to work well with customers. Good with numbers and computers. Learns new things easily. Not afraid of challenges Hard worker who learns from mistakes rather than getting flustered. Consistent performer.
Pay:
$100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
