Job Description

Position Summary We're looking for a highly organized and knowledgeable Quality Manager with a strong foundation in quality and food safety to lead the Quality Assurance function at our baked goods manufacturing facility. This leader will build and maintain an effective culture of quality and food safety through continuous improvement and regulatory compliance. They will make sure every product we make is safe, legal, and meets customer expectations. The Quality Manager works closely with the Plant Manager, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Operations teams to keep the facility audit-ready every day. Key Responsibilities Food Safety Culture & Training Build and maintain an effective culture of quality and food safety through continuous improvement and regulatory compliance. Develop and maintain a quality and food safety training program for the entire team, covering all shifts and departments. Regulatory Compliance & Audit Readiness Make sure company policies and procedures, along with federal, state, and local regulations, are followed, including GMPs, SQF, FSMA, and FDA Develop and maintain a state of audit readiness throughout the facility for regulatory, certification, and customer audits. Manage and maintain the company's HACCP and HARPC programs, recommending changes as necessary. Make sure sanitation SSOPs meet industry standards and regulations. Quality Systems & CAPA Manage and maintain the company's Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) program. Determine root cause factors when creating CAPAs, and verify that corrective actions are effective. Manage and maintain risk assessments and change controls. Escalate non-conformances to the Plant Manager in a timely manner. Product Control & Monitoring Manage hold and release programs for products, ingredients, and packaging. Manage and maintain the environmental action plan and monitoring program, along with the corresponding testing. Oversee bakery-specific controls such as allergen management, foreign material detection (metal detection and X-ray), and label verification. Performance & Continuous Improvement Track and report on the plant's quality key performance indicators (KPIs). Identify opportunities for improvement and work with the Operations team to develop solutions. Partner with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager to identify capital improvement projects. Customer & Consumer Relations Manage customer and consumer complaints and issues, including investigation, response, and trend analysis. Qualifications Mandatory Requirements BS in Food Science or Microbiology, or 5 years of direct Quality Assurance experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a commercial or industrial bakery environment. HACCP and PCQI certifications. SQF Practitioner experience. Working knowledge of FSMA and FDA regulations and requirements. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Work in a production environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, and airborne flour dust. Exposure to common food allergens, including wheat, milk, eggs, and soy. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Must follow all GMP and PPE requirements. Occasional off-shift and weekend availability as business needs require.
