Job Description
Key Responsibilies
- Manage incoming, in-process, and final inspection programs.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures, inspection plans, and documentation systems.
- Lead formal management review processes by reporting KPI performance, audit results, customer complaints, corrective actions, and improvement opportunities.
- Prepare management review presentations and recommendations for executive leadership.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, drawings, welding procedures, and applicable codes/standards.
- Write, review, qualify, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
- Review nonconformance reports and lead root cause / corrective action efforts.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, purchasing, and operations teams to resolve quality issues.
- Oversee calibration systems for measuring and inspection equipment.
- Manage welding quality programs including welder qualifications, WPS compliance, and documentation.
- Interface with customers, auditors, and third-party inspectors.
- Lead internal and external audit activities and ensure timely closure of findings.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing rework, scrap, delays, and quality escapes.
- Maintain quality records and reporting systems.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of welding, fabrication, and manufacturing quality systems.
- Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
- Demonstrated management review experience within a manufacturing quality system.
- Experience presenting quality metrics and action plans to ownership or executive leadership.
- Strong understanding of corrective action systems, audits, and KPI reporting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving ability.
- Proficiency with inspection tools, reports, spreadsheets, and quality documentation.
