Quality Manager - Polymer Compounding /
Specialty Chemicals Location:
Burlington, NJ Working Model:
Onsite A Japanese-affiliated plastics manufacturer is seeking an experienced Quality Control / Quality Assurance Manager to lead its plant quality organization. This position is responsible for overseeing both QC and QA activities, including product quality, quality management systems, customer quality, audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have experience in plastics, polymer compounding, PVC compounding, or a related process manufacturing environment. Candidates from automotive Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers, wire & cable, chemical, or other quality-driven manufacturing industries will also be considered. Experience working with a Japanese company or Japanese manufacturing environment is highly preferred. Responsibilities Manage the QC/QA department and oversee daily quality operations Maintain and continuously improve the company's Quality Management System Quality Manager - Polymer Compounding / Specialty Chemicals Lead investigations of customer complaints, product nonconformities, and internal quality issues Conduct root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) Work closely with Production, R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, and other departments to improve product and process quality Support supplier quality management and corrective actions Review quality data, identify trends, and implement continuous improvement initiatives Establish and maintain quality standards, inspection procedures, testing methods, and documentation Manage calibration and measurement-control programs Support customers directly on quality concerns and visit customer locations when necessary Develop Quality KPIs and provide regular quality reports to senior management Lead, coach, and develop QC/QA Supervisors and Technicians Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field preferred Approximately 7+ years of QC/QA experience in a manufacturing environment 3+ years of quality management or supervisory experience Strong experience with ISO 9001 and Quality Management Systems Experience with customer complaints, root cause analysis, CAPA, audits, and continuous improvement Experience in plastics, polymer compounding, PVC compounding, extrusion, or related process manufacturing is highly preferred Quality experience within automotive Tier 1/Tier 2, wire & cable, chemical, or similar manufacturing industries will also be considered Experience working for a Japanese-affiliated company or in a Japanese manufacturing environment is highly preferred Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience preferred Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, ASQ, or other quality certification is a plus
