Job Summary Brooklyn bottling is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead Quality Assurance, Quality Control Operations, and Product Quality Management across three high-speed bottling production lines. The QA Manager is responsible for quality assurance, quality assurance control, batching support, calibration programs, QA batch approvals, production quality oversight, compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement activities. Responsibilities Leadership of QA and QC Staff Lead, schedule, coach, and develop the QA and QC team across all shifts so coverage matches production, sanitation, and laboratory demand. Set clear roles, SOPs, training matrices, and competency sign-off for lab analysts, line inspectors, and food-safety coordinators. Manage performance, overtime, succession, and hiring; maintain department morale and a no-blame, fact-based quality culture. Own the quality department budget (labor, lab supplies, calibration, third-party testing, certifications) and control cost without compromising release integrity. Ensure 24/7 decision support for holds, deviations, and line stops; establish on-call and after-hours release protocols. Quality Systems, Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance Own the site Food Safety and Quality Management System (GFSI scheme such as SQF or FSSC 22000, plus
ISO 9001
if applicable). Serve as site HACCP Coordinator and Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI); maintain the Food Safety Plan, CCPs/PRPs/OPRPs, and verification activities. Ensure compliance with
FDA FSMA
(21 CFR 117), GMPs, labeling, water regulations, and applicable state rules. Support
TTB/COLA
if the plant produces alcoholic carbonated beverages. Audits, Complaints, CAPA & Continuous Improvement Lead internal audits, customer audits, third-party GFSI certification/surveillance, and regulatory inspections (FDA, state). Own findings through verified CAPA. Investigate consumer and customer complaints, market returns, and off-spec events using structured root-cause tools (5-Why, fishbone, DMAIC). Trend quality
KPIs:
first-pass quality, hold rate, complaint ppm, audit scores, lab turnaround, micro positives, carbonation Cpk, and cost of poor quality. Drive sanitation effectiveness (ATP, micro, visual, CIP validation) with Operations and the sanitation vendor or crew. Support new product, new package, and line-start qualifications; write or approve process and quality specifications. Participate in management review and plant leadership meetings; communicate risk and performance with data, not opinion. Qualification s Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Quality Management, or related field. 5+ years of Quality Assurance leadership experience in manufacturing environment, preferably beverage manufacturing. Experience in high-speed bottling, beverage, food, or CPG manufacturing preferred. Strong knowledge of quality systems, food safety, calibration, and production quality management. 7-12+ years of quality, food safety, or technical experience in beverage or high-speed food manufacturing; carbonated soft drink, sparkling water, hard seltzer, or similar carbonated plant experience strongly preferred. Certifications PCQI (FSMA Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) — required or obtained within 90 days. HACCP certification — required. ASQ CQE / CMQ-OE, Six Sigma Green or Black Belt — preferred Compensation & Benefits
