Quality Assurance Supervisor - K9 & Kin

Job Description

About the
Role:
As K9 & Kin continues to grow, we are seeking a motivated and hands-on Quality Assurance Supervisor to lead daily quality operations at our state-of-the-art pet food manufacturing facility. This leadership role is responsible for supervising the quality team while ensuring products consistently meet company standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements.

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, you will serve as the primary leader for day-to-day quality activities while partnering with Operations, Food Safety, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Production Planning to ensure quality is built into every step of the manufacturing process. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced quality professional who enjoys developing people, improving processes, solving problems, and making a direct impact on product excellence.
Primary Responsibilities:
Quality Team Leadership:
Lead and develop Quality Assurance Technicians and Laboratory Technicians while promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Daily Quality Operations:
Provide daily direction and support to ensure quality standards are consistently achieved throughout manufacturing. Monitor production processes and product quality to verify compliance with company specifications.
Cross-Functional Partnership:
Partner with Operations, Food Safety, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Production Planning to resolve quality concerns, improve manufacturing performance, and promote open communication across departments.
Data Review & Corrective Actions:
Review production data, identify trends, and support root cause investigations and corrective actions that improve product quality and process performance.
Inspections, Sampling & Laboratory Oversight:
Oversee product inspections, sampling programs, laboratory activities, and quality verification processes.
Documentation, Training & Audits:
Ensure accurate documentation and timely completion of quality records. Support internal audits, customer visits, third-party certification activities, and employee training related to quality systems, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and product standards.

Who you are:
Experience:
You have three or more years of quality experience within a manufacturing environment, with previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
Education:
An associate's or bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is preferred.
Leader:
You are an approachable leader who enjoys developing people, coaching teams, and building accountability through strong communication and teamwork.
Quality-Focused:
You understand that strong quality programs are built through communication, collaboration, continuous improvement, and quality systems rather than inspection alone.
Analytical:
You bring strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective problem-solving capabilities to identify trends, support investigations, and improve processes.
Collaborator:
You build strong partnerships across Operations, Food Safety, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Production Planning to ensure quality is integrated into plant operations. You have a strong understanding of quality systems and manufacturing processes, with preferred experience in pet food, food manufacturing, feed milling, SQF, GMPs, HACCP, audits, certification programs, continuous improvement, or Lean Manufacturing.
Working Conditions:
This role is primarily based at our pet food manufacturing facility in Carey, Ohio. Work is conducted within a pet food manufacturing and quality environment and may involve regular exposure to production areas, laboratory settings, manufacturing equipment, and quality verification activities. Occasional travel to customer sites, supplier facilities, certification activities, or industry events may be required.
