Full-Time About Sistersville Tank Works Sistersville Tank Works, Inc. is a family-owned custom metal fabrication company with a long history of serving industrial customers. We specialize in the fabrication of custom tanks, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and other engineered equipment. We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead and maintain our quality program and work closely with our fabrication, engineering, project management, and customer teams. Position Summary The Quality Control Manager is responsible for overseeing quality assurance and quality control activities associated with the fabrication of pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, and other custom fabricated equipment. This is a hands-on position requiring regular interaction with shop personnel, inspectors, customers, and third-party agencies. The successful candidate should be comfortable working in a fabrication environment and capable of balancing code compliance and documentation requirements with the practical demands of production. Primary Responsibilities Manage and maintain the company's Quality Control program and Quality Control Manual. Ensure fabrication activities comply with applicable ASME Code requirements, customer specifications, drawings, procedures, and purchase order requirements. Coordinate activities associated with ASME Authorized Inspectors and other third-party inspectors. Review drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and customer quality requirements prior to and during fabrication. Maintain and oversee welding documentation, including WPSs, PQRs, and welder performance qualifications. Verify material identification, traceability, certifications, and documentation throughout the fabrication process. Coordinate and document required inspections, hold points, testing, NDE, hydrostatic/pneumatic testing, and final inspections. Review Material Test Reports (MTRs), NDE reports, heat treatment records, test reports, and other quality documentation. Prepare and review Manufacturer's Data Reports and turnover/documentation packages. Identify and document nonconformances and coordinate corrective actions with production and management. Work directly with welders, fitters, supervisors, and project managers to resolve quality issues efficiently. Assist with customer and third-party audits and inspections. Maintain calibration records for inspection and testing equipment. Support continuous improvement efforts related to fabrication quality, welding, documentation, and shop processes. Promote a culture where quality, safety, and production work together rather than as separate functions.
Qualifications Preferred candidates will have:
Experience in quality control within a pressure vessel, tank, piping, structural steel, or custom metal fabrication environment. Strong working knowledge of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code , particularly Section VIII and Section IX. Experience with welding processes and welding documentation. Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and customer requirements. Experience working with Authorized Inspectors and third-party inspection agencies. Knowledge of material traceability, MTRs, NDE methods, dimensional inspection, and pressure testing. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with both shop personnel and customers. Comfortable making decisions and resolving quality issues in an active manufacturing environment. Experience with additional industry codes and standards such as API, AWS, or NBIC is a plus. Previous experience as a Quality Control Manager, Quality Control Inspector, CWI, Authorized Inspector, welding inspector, or similar fabrication-quality position is strongly preferred.
