$20.00 - $22.00/Hour The Opportunity The Assistant QC Inspector supports the QA/QC Department by performing routine inspections and maintaining quality documentation for structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication, including handrails, stairs, beams, columns, platforms, frames, and other welded or bolted assemblies. This position assists in verifying that fabricated work complies with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, and company quality procedures. Why Join ICM?

      • Perform routine dimensional and visual inspections of fabricated steel components.
      • Verify fabrication against the latest approved shop drawings, including dimensions, member orientation, hole locations, connections, attachments, and overall configuration.
      • Assist with weld fit-up and visual weld inspections under the direction of qualified QC personnel.
      • Identify and promptly communicate fabrication discrepancies or nonconforming work.
      • Receive, review, organize, and log Material Test Reports (MTRs) and Certificates of Conformance (COCs).
      • Verify material grades, heat numbers, sizes, and other identification information to maintain material traceability.
      • Verify cut quality, dimensions, profiles, hole locations, and shapes produced by beamlines, plasma tables, and laser cutting equipment to ensure parts conform to approved drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
      • Perform and log Dry Film Thickness (DFT) readings when coating inspections are required.
      • Assist with or perform subcontractor fabrication inspections to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and purchase requirements.
      • Log inspections in Tekla or other approved quality tracking systems, including inspection status, dates, deficiencies, corrective actions, and acceptance.
      • Verify shipping tickets for correct piece marks, quantities, project information, and QC release status prior to shipment.
      • Verify required inspections and quality documentation are complete before fabricated materials are released for shipping.
      • Confirm inspections are performed using current approved drawings and report outdated or superseded drawings found in use.
      • Maintain organized, complete, legible, and traceable quality records.
      • Assist with NCR documentation, corrective-action follow-up, internal audits, and project quality documentation as assigned.
      • Maintain inspection tools and confirm required calibration or verification status prior to use.
      What You'll Bring Required Qualifications:
      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • Basic knowledge of structural or miscellaneous steel fabrication.
      • Ability to read fabrication/shop drawings and understand piece marks.
      • Familiarity with welding and fabrication terminology.
      • Ability to use common dimensional inspection tools and weld gauges.
      • Basic computer skills; Tekla experience preferred.
      • Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
      • Previous steel fabrication, welding, fitting, detailing, or QC experience preferred.
      • Basic familiarity with AWS D1.1 and AISC quality requirements preferred. The Perks
