Job Title:
Quality Inspector Job Description The Quality Inspector ensures that products and production processes consistently meet established quality specifications and safety standards. This role focuses on monitoring measurements, identifying defects, supporting troubleshooting activities, and maintaining a clean, organized work area in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Ensure all quality standards and procedures are followed throughout the production process. Check products and production processes to verify they meet required specifications and desired quality levels. Monitor and interpret data from measuring devices to confirm product conformity and process stability. Collaborate with teams and individuals to ensure safety standards are consistently adhered to. Assemble and disassemble equipment as needed to support inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Create work orders or written instructions when issues are identified or process adjustments are required. Engage in troubleshooting activities and promptly report issues that cannot be resolved at the line level. Identify defects and quality concerns, including those found during sales-related analysis, and document findings clearly. Maintain cleanliness and organization at the work site in line with 5S principles: sort, set in order, standardize, and sustain. Ensure materials and products are stored and staged following Right Location, Right Quantity, and Right Container guidelines. Follow existing cleaning standard operating procedures (SOPs) during downtime, including line stops and waiting periods, by cleaning designated machines and surrounding work areas. Perform repetitive tasks such as lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds for periods of up to 12 hours and up to 7 days a week, as needed. Regularly stoop, twist, reach overhead, sit, and stand to complete inspection and production-related tasks. Perform other duties as assigned to support overall production quality and operational efficiency. Essential Skills 1-3 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in production, general labor, or assembly environments. Ability to perform repetitive assembly work while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards. Comfortable lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50+ pounds repeatedly over extended shifts. Capability to stoop, twist, reach overhead, sit, and stand for long periods, including up to 12-hour shifts and up to 7 days a week as needed. Strong awareness of and adherence to safety and quality procedures in a manufacturing setting. High school diploma or GED. Consistent work history, including at least 9 months of tenure at each previous job. Willingness to wear and work with required personal protective equipment (PPE) in a clean room environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with measuring devices and interpreting production data. Familiarity with 5S methodologies and structured cleanliness and organization practices. Ability to follow detailed cleaning SOPs and maintain a meticulously clean work area. Basic mechanical aptitude to assemble and disassemble equipment safely and correctly. Strong communication skills to collaborate with teams and report issues clearly and promptly. Ability to write clear work orders and instructions when documenting issues or process changes. Comfort working in a structured, temperature-controlled, and brightly lit production environment. Attention to detail in identifying defects and quality issues during inspections and analysis. Work Environment This role is based in a large manufacturing facility where you will walk frequently between buildings and across the plant from one end to another. The department operates as a clean room, requiring the use of appropriate PPE, including a full garb and beard net when applicable. The work area is meticulously clean, temperature controlled, and very brightly lit, providing a stable and comfortable setting for detailed inspection work. The facility strongly emphasizes 5S principles, promoting organization, cleanliness, and standardized processes throughout the workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Matteson, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
