Job Title:
Quality Inspector Job Description The Quality Inspector ensures that products and services consistently meet established company standards for reliability, performance, and customer expectations. This role maintains strong overall quality control of products by performing detailed inspections, measurements, and tests throughout the manufacturing process and by accurately documenting and communicating findings. Responsibilities Perform incoming inspections of raw materials, customer-supplied materials, returned goods, and special components to verify conformance to specifications. Conduct finished goods inspections to ensure products meet quality standards before release. Carry out start-up and in-process inspections to monitor product quality during production. Monitor designated production areas as directed by the Quality Control Supervisor to maintain consistent quality. Use mechanical measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to make precise measurements and record data on inspection forms or job cards. Perform testing and record data for statistical process control (SPC) during manufacturing when required. Communicate promptly with the Quality Control Supervisor about any non-conforming product, out-of-control processes, or other quality concerns. Notify Manufacturing Engineers of any test results that fail engineering limits or indicate other issues of concern. Set up computers and label printing programs on cutting lines to support production and quality processes. Assist Engineering with experimental testing and special quality-related projects as needed. Enter finished goods inspection data into the BMS system accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain good documentation practices to ensure records are complete, accurate, and traceable. Perform any other quality-related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Essential Skills Mechanical measurement skills and experience using tools such as calipers and micrometers. Hands-on experience with quality inspection and mechanical inspection in a production environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and apply relevant ISO standards in daily work. Proficiency in recording inspection results and performing accurate data entry. Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail. Good documentation practices to ensure complete and accurate quality records. Proven understanding of part workmanship and quality requirements. Ability to work comfortably with numbers and basic calculations. Ability to use micrometers, computers, testing equipment, microscopes, tensile testing equipment, and electronic balances. Experience working in a high-volume production or high-volume manufacturing environment. Ability to speak, read, and write in English. Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and production staff. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and related data collection. Experience using Excel for data entry, tracking, and basic analysis. Familiarity with BMS or similar systems for entering inspection data. Comfort working with label printing programs and computer-based production tools. Excel skills are considered a plus. Work Environment This is a first-shift position with core hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Overtime may be scheduled either before or after the regular shift, as well as every other Saturday, providing additional earning potential. Work takes place in a manufacturing environment where you may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, ambient air, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level is typically moderate and consistent with an industrial production setting. You will regularly use mechanical measurement tools, microscopes, tensile testing equipment, computers, label printers, and other testing equipment as part of daily quality inspection activities. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Ho Ho Kus, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45760.00 - $49920.00/yr.
