PURPOSE:
The Receiver will be responsible for managing the intake of materials, ensuring accurate inventory tracking, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various team members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Material Receiving:
Accurately receive, inspect, and record incoming shipments of lumber and related materials, ensuring that quantities and quality meet specifications.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate inventory records, including logging received materials in the inventory management system and reconciling discrepancies.
Quality Control:
Conduct quality inspections of incoming materials to identify defects or issues and coordinate with suppliers for returns or customer replacements.
Documentation:
Complete necessary paperwork for received materials, including packing slips, invoices, and quality assurance reports.
Organization:
Maintain a clean and organized receiving area, ensuring that materials are stored properly to prevent damage and facilitate easy access.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the sales, warehouse, and delivery teams to ensure timely processing and distribution of materials.
Safety Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.
OTHER JOB DUTIES
All other duties - Perform all other duties as assigned including carrying out responsibilities, performing duties, using skills, and working in conditions necessary to perform all assigned tasks
COMPETENCIES/SKILLS
: Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and accuracy in receiving and recording materials. Basic computer skills, including familiarity with inventory management software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to lift and move heavy materials up to 80lbs Stand, sit, bend, kneel, and repetitive lifting for 8 hrs. Ability to operate warehouse equipment including forklifts Climb stairs while carrying heavy objects Works in inclement weather conditions.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent; Relevant experience in a lumber yard or warehouse environment preferred. Forklift certification is advantageous.
