BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate, monitor and troubleshoot power and steam generation equipment for plant-wide operations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Understand basic principles of steam processes. Monitor, document and troubleshoot boiler, turbine, chemical pump, and steam system operations. Read and understand technical literature, drawings, gauges, instruments, etc. Keep accurate log sheets and records. Operate, troubleshoot and perform maintenance on equipment. Perform chemical testing and treatment of boiler water. Communicate effectively with other personnel. Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on all equipment. Make operational decisions based on available data. Keep work area clean at all times. Replenish fluids and chemicals for chemical pump and turbine systems. Demonstrate good attendance. Required to wear respirators and pass pulmonary function test. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
[Minimum level of formal education that is required to perform this job satisfactorily] Vocational School or some college courses preferred.
TRAINING, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Knowledge and skill equivalent to completion of high school, with 2 years work experience. Experience with water treatment and chemical analysis. Mechanical aptitude, understanding of electrical systems and computer proficiency is required. Requires technical certificate and/or turbo machinery, steam and boiler technical certificate or equivalent experience. Requires above average mathematical skill.
Preferred certification or related experience:
Boiler and Steam System operation, Maintenance and Compressed Air System operation.
Preferred general knowledge of:
Preventive Maintenance Procedures, Hydraulics/Pneumatics, Mechanical Drives and Linkages, Electro-Mechanical Systems, Industrial Control Systems, Troubleshooting skills and Machining and Welding skills. Must be physically able to perform the essential job functions.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Operate forklift- requires valid forklift license. Operate other equipment when necessary. Participate in the CCJ Safeteam and Qualitivity programs. Train new employees. Learn other jobs in the functional area.
EQUIPMENT
Respirator, air pack, valves, hand tools, freezer wear, face shield, goggles, thermal and chemical gloves, earplugs, bump cap, safety glasses, steam rated protective clothing and or
PPE. WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed both in and out of doors. Requires exposure to temperature extremes, moving equipment, heights, high noise levels, wetness, vibrations, fumes, dust, etc. Work is performed on rotating shifts.
