Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Tool Die Maker Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This role is essential in designing, building, and maintaining precision tooling used in various manufacturing processes, particularly in plastics injection molding and metal machining. The successful candidate will leverage advanced machining techniques, CAD/CAM software, and precise measurement tools to produce high-quality tools and dies that meet strict specifications. Duties Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings using GD&T principles to ensure accurate tool fabrication. Set up and operate CNC machining centers including CNC lathes, milling machines, and electrical discharge machines (EDM) for tool production. Program CNC equipment utilizing CAM programming and CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD to create precise machining paths. Perform manual machining operations with hand tools, grinders, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to refine tooling components. Fabricate and assemble tooling components for stamping presses and plastics injection molds, ensuring proper fit and function. Conduct routine maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting on CNC machinery and tooling equipment to maintain optimal performance. Utilize shop math skills for measurement conversions, tolerances, and calculations necessary for high-precision manufacturing. Inspect finished tools using precision measurement instruments to verify conformance with quality standards. Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret mechanical schematics and modify tooling designs as needed. Maintain a clean, organized toolroom environment adhering to safety protocols and best practices in metal machining. Experience Proven experience as a Tool Die Maker or Machinist with a strong background in toolroom operations within a manufacturing setting. Extensive knowledge of CNC programming (including CAM), manual machining techniques, and CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD. Hands-on experience with CNC lathe, milling machines, grinders, EDM machines, and stamping presses. Familiarity with GD&T standards for mechanical blueprint interpretation. Strong mechanical knowledge related to metal machining, plastics injection molding tooling, and assembly processes. Skilled in the use of precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other gauging devices. Experience working with schematics, electrical discharge machining (EDM), shop math, and maintenance of CNC equipment. Knowledge of manufacturing processes including tooling design, fabrication, repair, and R&O (repair & overhaul). Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately while adhering to quality control standards. Prior shop experience in a fast-paced environment emphasizing precision machining and tooling development.
