The Cast Tech/DME Specialist will handle and dispense all durable medical equipment in the clinic. They will also assist with applying, adjusting and removing casts. The Specialist will work under the providers and take orders that come from them. The main duty of the Cast Tech/DME Specialist is to make sure that all of the appropriate equipment is readily available for the patients and fitted appropriately when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Fit and adjust all durable medical equipment after it is prescribed by the physician Assist with the fabrication and removal of casts and splints Provide patient instructions for properly using and caring for the DME, casts and/or splints EMR documentation of services performed Liaison between Progressive Health and Orthopaedic Associates, coordinating with the Physical Therapists on Custom Orthotic Splints and DME. Relay phone messages from the patient to the provider and return patient's call Assist with minor procedures including removing staples and sutures Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with company policies and procedures

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required. Candidates with no prior healthcare or orthotic experience will be considered and provided with the training necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Previous healthcare, patient care, orthotic fitting, durable medical equipment, athletic training, or related experience is preferred but not required. An Associate or Bachelor's degree, Certified Orthotic Fitter certification, or Certified Athletic Trainer credential is a plus. Proficient with computers Strong interpersonal communication skills with a pleasant and cheerful attitude Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment Strong knowledge about orthotics
