Position Summary:
Performs the duties required to produce block and Press/Pilger tooling. Primary duties will include selecting and Distributing Block tooling for the shift, cleaning and inspecting returned tooling, grinding new tooling, reconditioning press/pilger tooling, and monitoring the performance of all Blocks, Press, and Pilger tooling and making necessary adjustments. 2. Major Responsibilities/Activities (List in order of importance the essential functions of the job and the approximate percentage of time spent on each of the activities; describe what must be accomplished, not how it must be done.): a. Clean, inspect, and prepare die/plug setups for blocks and drawbench to meet the production requirements of that shift. Inspect and return all tooling to inventory after order completion. b. Operate die and plug grinders to produce new block tooling to meet future production orders in accordance with work instructions. c. Disassemble, clean and inspect, reassemble, and calibrate ultrasonic dies for drawbench. Must have a working knowledge of the ultrasonic PC for the purposes of evaluating die and probe performance and making adjustments to the settings when necessary. d. Investigate abnormal performance of any tooling in plant when called by Production Supervisor. This will include assessing the cause of the malfunction and making adjustments when necessary. e. Perform daily housekeeping duties as required, including cleanup of all machines used during the shift. f. Have the ability to polish pilger dies and mandrels, and recondition press tooling, including cutting of dummy blocks and replacing die nibs in accordance with work instructions, in the event of personnel vacations or absences. 3.
Other Functions:
This position will also act as Pilger Mill relief operator. Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and instructions. Actively participate in programs to improve safety, quality and process capabilities in the area and plant wide. Other duties as assigned. Experience as a Machinist is preferred. This is a 3rd shift position, 8pm-6am.
