CNC Swiss Lathe Specialist — Star Platform Global Contract Manufacturing - 3.3 Leland, NC Job Details $30 - $40 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications Manufacturing company experience Full Job Description Make precision happen Bring your Star Swiss setup expertise to a team that values speed, accuracy, and continuous improvement. You'll turn prints into parts by executing disciplined setups, pulling the correct programs, and verifying results at the machine. What you will do Run Star Swiss lathes: select/install tooling, stage fixturing, and perform medium-complexity setups. Call up existing Swiss programs and align them with print and process requirements. Load and produce parts to the manufacturing plan or product specifications. Monitor tool life; replace tools based on wear limits and tool-life tracking. Complete internal first articles for QA by dialing in offsets and tools as needed. Inspect using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pins, and other mechanical gages. Apply advanced GD&T to ensure set up and program achieve all callouts.
Deburr WIP and maintain documentation:
updates, signatures, stamps, counts, labels, and any nonconformance notes. Meet or exceed standard times; notify leadership when jobs trend above/below standards. Clock operations in sequence per the work order. Support Lean/CI initiatives and sustain 5S. How you work Demonstrate self-management, teamwork, and clear communication across departments. Stay open to new ideas and alternate approaches; learn quickly and adapt. Follow verbal/written instructions and convert handmade sketches into actionable setups. Experience & skills 4+ years in production or job-shop machining. Proven Star Swiss setup and operation experience. Very strong knowledge of 4- and 5-axis machining. Familiarity with planning/scheduling systems; Epicor exposure is a plus. Capable of performing setups on production parts (non-CFA, FA, or SCR jobs). Physical requirements Near vision and accommodation to read gages, blueprints, and precision instruments. Auditory awareness to detect machine condition changes. Frequent standing, walking, pushing, overhead reaching, bending; regular sitting and fine motor work. Occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs. Environment High noise levels and moving machinery. Exposure to fumes, mists, dust, oils, and cutting fluids possible. Safety & compliance Comply with all environmental, health, and safety rules, company policies, and accepted safe practices. Understand shop safety and use PPE consistently. Tools & tech CNC Swiss Lathe (Star)
