Job Description for Turbine Pump And Compressor We are seeking an experienced Turbine Mechanic to join our shop team. The successful candidate will perform hands-on disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of industrial steam turbines, related rotating equipment, and associated components in a fast-paced industrial repair environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble industrial turbines and related rotating equipment Measure and document critical clearances, fits, and dimensions using precision measuring tools Identify worn, damaged, or out-of-tolerance components and recommend repair or replacement Perform bearing, seal, packing, and rotor-related work to manufacturer and shop standards Support field service work as needed, including on-site disassembly, inspection, and reassembly Follow all safety procedures, quality processes, and documentation requirements Work closely with Project Managers, shop leads, and QA/QC to ensure quality and schedule adherence
REQUIREMENTS
3+ years of hands-on experience with industrial steam or gas turbines (shop or field) Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read drawings, manuals, and work scopes Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, dial indicators, feeler gauges, etc.) Valid driver's license and ability to pass background check / drug screen Experience with Elliott, Siemens, Worthington, or similar industrial turbine brands Previous work in a rotating equipment repair shop or OEM service environment Familiarity with NDT processes, balancing, or alignment TWIC card or ability to obtain one
Basic Requirement:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Equipment Operation:
Mastery of manual lathes, vertical/horizontal milling machines, drill presses, saws, and grinders.
Blueprint Reading:
Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) specifications.
Precision Measuring:
Expert use of micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and gauges to check tolerances.
Math & Geometry:
Strong shop math skills for calculating dimensions, angles, cutting speeds, and feed rates.
Threading Expertise:
Ability to execute single-point threading and maintain strict boring and turning limits.
Stamina:
Standing for 8-10 hour shifts on concrete shop floors.
Strength:
Capability to lift and maneuver heavy parts or tooling up to 50 lbs.
Coordination:
High manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise tool adjustments.
