This is an exciting opportunity to use your fabrication experience to provide mission support for NASA. This position will provide hands-on fabrication support of foam, plastic, and textile products to our cargo and engineering teams through use of hand tools, additive manufacturing, and CNC machining. The ideal candidate must be willing to embrace a culture of safety, showcase exceptional teamwork, problem-solving, quality, and excel when provided training and work the necessary hours to complete the task assigned within the provided schedule demands. US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency and the ability to successfully obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance are required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist the CMC Foam Operations team by providing manufacturing support to fabricate protective foam assemblies for the protection of hardware being flown to the International Space Station. Additional duties will include providing hands on support for prototyping, 3D printing, soft goods, electronic, and mechanical components or equipment builds. Fabricate custom foam launch stowage solutions Program and operate 3D printers Operate 3-Axis CNC Machines Perform hands on fabrication of contract products Provide technical engineering support and perform steps via work authorizing documents Support mockup design and development Move furniture, support lab organization, facility maintenance, and cleaning as required
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent, and 2+ years of related experience in manufacturing, design, or NASA cargo processing Comprehensive experience in the use of powered and unpowered tools to fabricate end items Thorough understanding of how to read and implement requirements from engineering drawings Experience with mockup fabrication Experience in operating CNC machinery Experience in additive manufacturing Experience in computer-aided drafting (CAD) software
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting NASA Programs Experienced in running and programming additive manufacturing systems Experience in Creo software Experience in Simplify3D software Experience in Foam or other soft goods Fabrication
