Wastewater Plant Superintendent City of Kingsland, Georgia Salary:
$58,521.56- $88,430.10 Annually The City of Kingsland is seeking an experienced and qualified Wastewater Plant Superintendent to lead the operation and maintenance of the City's wastewater treatment facilities. This position is responsible for overseeing wastewater treatment plant operations, equipment, personnel, laboratory testing, preventative maintenance, regulatory compliance, and departmental resources. The Superintendent provides leadership to treatment plant staff and serves as a key technical resource to the Municipal Utilities Director . The ideal candidate will have strong wastewater treatment experience, leadership skills, technical knowledge, and a commitment to safe, efficient, and compliant plant operations. Position Responsibilities The Wastewater Plant Superintendent will: Direct and coordinate the daily operations and maintenance of the City's wastewater treatment plant(s) Ensure wastewater facilities operate safely and within required regulatory standards and limits Supervise, train, motivate, and evaluate wastewater treatment plant personnel Provide staff training and address employee performance and operational concerns Perform and/or direct wastewater laboratory testing and analysis Maintain accurate records, drawings, schematics, reports, and operational documentation Monitor electrical systems, circuits, pumps, generators, gauges, and other treatment plant equipment Develop and oversee preventative maintenance programs for wastewater facilities and equipment Determine, order, and receive chemicals, materials, equipment, and supplies needed for plant operations Assist with developing and managing the departmental budget, including forecasting staffing, equipment, material, and supply needs Monitor expenditures and recommend budget adjustments as necessary Develop and implement operational goals, policies, procedures, and priorities Identify opportunities to improve wastewater services, processes, and operational efficiency Coordinate activities with other City departments, governmental agencies, outside organizations, contractors, and the public Prepare staff reports, correspondence, records, and other required documentation Provide technical and operational assistance to the Municipal Utilities Director Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, and safety requirements Perform other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Chemistry, Biology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred At least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of sanitary/wastewater treatment facilities preferred Possession of a valid Georgia Driver's License Possession of a Class I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License issued by the State of Georgia Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, laboratory procedures, and plant operations Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, mechanical systems, and electrical systems as they relate to wastewater treatment Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, and safety requirements Experience supervising, training, and evaluating employees Ability to manage budgets, resources, projects, and multiple priorities Ability to analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and make sound decisions Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, City officials, governmental agencies, contractors, and the public Ability to work safely in a wastewater treatment plant environment and handle exposure to chemicals, machinery, biological materials, and other occupational hazards Working Conditions This position works in both an office and wastewater treatment plant environment and may involve exposure to chemicals, wastewater, biohazardous materials, unpleasant odors, dangerous gases, noisy machinery, slippery surfaces, and other potential hazards. The position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit for extended periods, climb ladders and structures, safely maneuver around plant facilities, operate tools and laboratory equipment, and lift heavy objects. Employees must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
