Biogas/Waste Water Operator
Job Description
Job Summary Gem State Staffing in Burley is now hiring a Biogas Plant Operator with strong mechanical skills to support operations, maintenance, and safety at a biogas production facility. This is a great opportunity for individuals with experience in mechanical systems, industrial equipment, or renewable energy. Responsibilities
Plant Operations and Monitoring:
- Operate and monitor digesters, gas upgrading equipment, and other biogas systems.
- Monitor fluid/gas flows, pressures, and temperatures.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections (pumps, mixers, valves, etc.).
Mechanical Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance.
- Replace filters, belts, hoses, and worn parts.
- Diagnose mechanical/electrical issues and coordinate complex repairs.
- Assist in equipment upgrades and overhauls.
Safety and Environmental Compliance:
- Follow all safety procedures and regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Maintain clean and organized workspaces.
- Respond to equipment alarms and emergency situations.
- Ensure biogas plant operations meet environmental compliance standards.
Recordkeeping and Reporting:
- Log operating data and maintenance activities.
- Prepare shift reports and update tracking systems.
- Maintain inventory of spare parts and consumables.
Teamwork and Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with team members, engineers, and contractors.
- Attend training sessions and safety meetings.
- Support continuous improvement and plant efficiency efforts.
Requirements:
- Mechanical aptitude and experience in industrial plant settings.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, PLCs, or plant control systems.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and protocols.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in various conditions.
- Experience in biogas, wastewater treatment, or renewable energy is a plus.
