Job Description

Looking for a Water Operator/ Public Works in Port Byron Il Pay will be determined by experience The Operator is responsible for operation and maintenance of equipment in water treatment facilities. Salary range depends on level of experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
General Management and maintenance of Water Treatment System Operates a variety of equipment/machinery including valves, pumps, motors, disinfection equipment, vehicles, etc. Conducts routine testing, monitoring and maintenance of production wells and water unit processes and basic laboratory analyses, IEPA required sampling as scheduled. Performs and documents, treatment process and maintenance of water facility equipment. Documents performance including daily flow, electrical and chemical usage and dosage mix. Maintain chemical feed system and chemical and supply level. Submit samples for monthly EPA regulations. Responds to call outs and after-hours emergencies to repair treatment equipment, pumps, motors, sensing devices, instrumentation and electrical support. Complete and submit monthly and other reports as required by IEPA. Ensures facilities are clean, neat and secure. Service and replace consumer water meters as needed. Provides customer service functions when necessary. Communication with Utility Clerk Other duties assigned include assisting Public Works departments as needed. Work with Public Works on shifts to Plow Snow as needed. Willing to work weekends, holidays, evenings for emergency calls. Typical shifts are five (5) eight (8) hour day shifts including one weekend per month.
QUALIFICATIONS
Display a willingness, aptitude and self-discipline to study the required material and meet all prerequisites to obtain water certification. Knowledge of process control techniques, maintenance procedures and safe practices. The ability to successfully perform routine on-site maintenance and emergency repairs of water equipment is essential Knowledge of regulatory rules is essential Previous water experience is desirable Completion of water correspondence courses is very desirable Basic understanding of water chemistry is preferred
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or GED.
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid Driver's License (CDL preferred). Water Operator's License specific to state and site-specific requirements. Other licenses may vary according to specific site and assignments. Must obtain a Class B license within 12 months.
Technical:
Ability to follow manual & operating instructions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications & internet. Basic knowledge of water operations. Knowledge of SCADA System is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Pay:
From $22.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
