Non-Exempt Summary Water Treatment Operator will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of a Class IV water treatment plant. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Duties and Responsibilities Operates and monitors all phases of the water treatment process, including chemical dosing, filtration, pumping, and disinfection. Collects water samples and conducts routine and regulatory laboratory tests; interprets results and makes necessary operational adjustments. Maintains accurate records, logs, and reports as required by the Maryland Department of the Environment and other regulatory bodies. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, including pumps, valves, motors, chemical feed systems, and instrumentation. Responds to alarms, system upsets, and emergencies; troubleshoots equipment and process issues. Ensures compliance with safety procedures including proper handling of hazardous materials. Maintenance and repair of municipal water system infrastructure to include emergency maintenance, leak repair, and water line breaks. Participates in on-call rotation, weekend coverage, and emergency response as needed. Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or GED Skills and Competencies Ability to work independently. Strong attention to detail Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Requires the ability to read, write, compile, and analyze data and reports daily. Ability to monitor control panels, gauges, and meters to ensure proper plant operation. Must be available to work weekends, overtime and 'on-call' as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience within a water treatment environment Heavy equipment experience Certificates and Licenses Class IV Water Treatment Operator Certification, or willingness to obtain within 4 years of hire, required. Valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Records required.
Pay:
$20.35 - $25.06 per hour
