About the Role We're hiring a Water Utility Line Locator responsible for identifying and marking the location of underground utility lines and infrastructure (water and wastewater). This role also assists as needed with installs, locates, and repairs of water distribution infrastructure — including water mains, service lines, hydrants, valves, PRVs, and meters. This is a union position with strong benefits and a clear certification path.

Pay:

$26.20 per hourWhat You'll DoLocate and mark underground water, wastewater, and reclaimed water services using provided maps and toolsPerform routine servicing and corrective maintenance of water and wastewater systemsRead diagrams, as-builts, and maps to determine underground utility locationsReview and interpret plans and design drawings to locate underground utilitiesClean vehicles, heavy equipment, pumps, tools, and other stationary/portable equipmentPerform routine vehicle/equipment inspections and minor preventive maintenanceOperate and maintain vehicles and tools to load, unload, haul, and spread materials; dig and refill ditches and trenchesMaintain grounds and buildings as neededConduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standardsMaintain accurate, up-to-date records of underground utility locationsResolve complex technical issues related to underground utility locationProvide training and support to junior locators as neededRespond to pages and on-call shifts as requested by managementWhat You BringValid Driver's License (State of New Mexico)High school diploma or GEDKnowledge of underground water utility systems2-5 years of experience in line locating2-5 years of experience working in the water utility fieldExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailStrong communication and interpersonal skillsDigital literacy (e.g., Maintenance Connection, IonCity, phone-based tools)Familiarity with hand and power tools used in vehicle/equipment/structure maintenanceCommitment to safety and quality in all aspects of workPreferred QualificationsNew Mexico Class A Commercial Driver's LicenseAdvanced knowledge of operations and maintenance of water systemsNew Mexico Water Supply 1 or 2, and/or Water Distribution System 1 or 2 (or ability to obtain within 2 years)Advanced knowledge of underground water utility systemsWhat We OfferUnion positionMedical, Dental, and Vision benefitsPTO accrualPaid HolidaysClothing/boot allowancePOST-probationary period
