DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE HANDS-ON LASER WELDING EXPERIENCE.
This is NOT an entry-level welding position. MIG or TIG welding experience alone does not qualify you for this position. BlueLine Industries is seeking an experienced Laser Welder to join our manufacturing team in Chino, California . The successful candidate must have real, hands-on experience operating laser welding equipment and must be comfortable performing both fusion laser welding and wire-fed laser welding .
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Applicants must have demonstrated experience with: Laser welding
REQUIRED
Fusion laser welding
REQUIRED
Wire-fed laser welding
REQUIRED
Aluminum
REQUIRED
Carbon/mild steel
REQUIRED
Stainless steel
•
REQUIRED
Setting and adjusting laser welding parameters Selecting appropriate settings for different materials and material thicknesses Controlling heat input, penetration, distortion, and weld appearance Proper joint preparation, fit-up, and fixturing Troubleshooting weld quality issues such as porosity, lack of fusion, undercut, inconsistent penetration, excessive heat input, and poor bead appearance Candidates without actual laser welding experience will not be considered.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Laser Welder will be responsible for: Set up and operate handheld and/or production laser welding equipment Perform both autogenous/fusion welding and wire-fed laser welding Weld aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel components Determine and adjust appropriate laser power, travel speed, wobble/beam parameters, wire-feed settings, shielding gas, and other process variables Set up welding equipment according to the material, thickness, joint configuration, and production requirements Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and work instructions Properly fit, position, clamp, and fixture components before welding Inspect parts before welding to ensure proper joint preparation and fit-up Produce clean, consistent welds while minimizing distortion and unnecessary post-weld finishing Visually inspect completed welds for defects and workmanship Use measuring and inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, squares, and tape measures Verify completed assemblies against drawings and dimensional requirements Identify welding defects and make appropriate process adjustments Perform routine inspection and basic maintenance of laser welding equipment, torches, nozzles, optics, wire-feed equipment, and related components Maintain a clean and organized welding/work area Follow production schedules while maintaining BlueLine quality standards Work with engineering, quality, and production personnel to resolve fabrication and welding issues Follow all company safety procedures and laser-specific safety requirements
LASER SAFETY
Because laser welding equipment presents hazards that are different from traditional MIG and TIG welding, candidates must understand or be capable of demonstrating proper: Laser welding PPE Laser safety eyewear and protective equipment Controlled laser work area procedures Equipment interlocks and safety systems Safe beam direction and reflection awareness Protection from reflective materials, particularly aluminum and stainless steel Safe handling of shielding gases and welding equipment Failure to follow laser safety procedures will not be tolerated.
QUALIFICATIONS
