Our Aeronautics Systems sector is currently seeking a Composite Bonder level 2 to join our operations team, located in El Segundo, CA, working on a variety of bonds of dissimilar materials (composite, metal, or laminate) assemblies, parts, skins, components, equipment, or structures into semi-finished or finished products.

Position Requirements:

This position requires at least two years of experience working with a broad understanding of the detailed aspects of the job. The candidate will receive general supervision, and instructions are given for routine work while detailed instructions are given for new activities or special assignments. They are able to resolve routine questions and perform more advanced functions.

What you'll get to do:

Read and interpret blueprints.

Lay out articles, cuts parts or materials to size and apply liquid or solid bonding agents.

Understanding of ply orientations and vacuum bagging processes

Operates autoclave, hydraulic presses, and ovens to complete bonding cycle.

Control conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various controls according to the specifications for the materials and the bonding agent being used.

Sand, burs and smooth over areas, apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges.

Monitor and verify quality of finished product.

Complete repairs on composite, metal or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions. Verifies quality of finished product.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED with 2-years of relatable composite fabrication or bonding experience in manufacturing/production environment
  • Must have current or prior lamination experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance and special program access for advancements and opportunities

This position requires the ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 35 pounds, working overhead or at heights, and accessing small, confined spaces

Must be able to access small, confined spaces and work in an enclosed environment

Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends

Must successfully complete and pass the New Hire Training / Compliance within a reasonable time period, as defined by the company to meet its business need

Must be able to pass a New Hire Physical Exam, and able to obtain and maintain a respirator clearance and compliance with all respirator fitting requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with hydraulic parts, aircraft fabrication, assemblies, components, and systems in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing, and/or maintenance environment

Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance with a background investigation completed within the last six years

Experience with structural subassemblies such as rudders, flaps and stabilizers

Primary Level Salary Range:

$51,400.00 - $85,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.



Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
