Full Job Description Job Title:
Welder Job Summary The Experienced Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding and fabrication work for mechanical construction projects, equipment installations, repairs, and field applications. This position requires strong knowledge of welding techniques, the ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a variety of environments. The ideal candidate can work independently, troubleshoot problems, and produce quality work while meeting project schedules and specifications.
Key Responsibilities Welding & Fabrication:
Perform high-quality welding using MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes as required by the project.
Field Installation:
Perform welding and fabrication work related to equipment installation, mechanical systems, repairs, and construction projects.
Blueprint & Drawing Reading:
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, welding symbols, measurements, and project specifications.
Fit-Up & Fabrication:
Measure, cut, fit, position, and prepare materials for welding and installation.
Quality Control:
Inspect completed welds and fabricated components to ensure they meet project specifications and quality standards.
Troubleshooting:
Identify and resolve welding, fabrication, and installation issues in the shop and field.
Equipment Operation:
Safely operate welding machines, cutting equipment, grinders, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment necessary to complete the job.
Safety Compliance:
Follow all company, OSHA, and jobsite safety requirements, including proper use of PPE and safe handling of welding equipment and materials.
Jobsite Coordination:
Work effectively with mechanics, millwrights, foremen, project managers, and other team members to complete projects safely and efficiently.
Material Handling:
Safely handle, move, and position materials and equipment necessary to complete welding and fabrication work.
Maintain Work Area:
Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
Documentation:
Complete required timekeeping, job documentation, material usage, and other project-related records accurately.
Problem Solving:
Use experience and sound judgment to identify issues and find practical solutions to keep work moving forward.
Other Duties:
Perform other welding, fabrication, mechanical, and construction-related duties as assigned. Required Skills and Qualifications Proven experience as a welder in a mechanical, construction, fabrication, or industrial environment. Strong knowledge of welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and Stick. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, measurements, and welding symbols. Strong understanding of welding equipment, tools, and materials. Ability to perform quality fit-up and produce clean, structurally sound welds. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team. Strong commitment to workplace and jobsite safety. Reliable attendance and dependable work habits. Preferred Qualifications Welding certifications. Experience with industrial or mechanical equipment installation. Experience working in a construction or field environment. Experience with structural or pipe welding. Experience working in confined spaces or elevated work areas. Ability to read and understand project specifications and welding procedures. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in a variety of physical positions for extended periods. Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated platforms. Ability to work in environments with high temperatures, noise, dust, fumes, and other typical construction and industrial conditions. Ability to safely use welding equipment, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment required for the position.
