EXPERIENCED WELDER - METAL FABRICATION ABOUT CAROLINA SKIFF
Carolina Skiff LLC is a leading manufacturer of fiberglass boats built for fishing, family recreation, and getting the job done on the water. Our manufacturing team takes pride in building durable, dependable boats that are designed to perform. We are looking for an experienced Welder / Metal Fabricator to join our manufacturing team and help fabricate the metal components used in our boats.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Experienced Welder will be responsible for fabricating, welding, fitting, and finishing metal boat components according to drawings, measurements, specifications, and production requirements. This is a hands-on manufacturing position for someone who takes pride in their workmanship and understands the importance of quality, accuracy, productivity, and safety. The ideal candidate can read measurements and drawings, set up and operate welding equipment, accurately fit and fabricate components, and work independently while maintaining consistent production quality. Experience working with aluminum and/or stainless steel is strongly preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fabricate metal components and assemblies used in the construction of fiberglass boats. Perform MIG/TIG welding and other appropriate welding processes. Weld aluminum, stainless steel, and other metals as required. Read and interpret drawings, sketches, measurements, and work instructions. Accurately measure, cut, bend, drill, fit, and weld metal components. Set up welding machines and adjust settings based on material and application. Properly fit and tack components before final welding. Inspect finished welds and fabricated parts for quality and accuracy. Grind, clean, deburr, and finish parts as required. Use hand tools, power tools, saws, drills, grinders, presses, and other metal-fabrication equipment. Maintain proper dimensions and tolerances throughout the fabrication process. Identify defects, fit-up problems, or dimensional issues and correct them when possible. Follow production drawings and established manufacturing procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Properly maintain welding equipment, tools, and workstations. Meet established production schedules and quality standards. Work effectively with other members of the metal shop and manufacturing team. Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Required 3+ years of professional welding and/or metal fabrication experience. Strong understanding of welding processes and metal fabrication. Ability to accurately measure and fabricate parts. Ability to read basic fabrication drawings and understand dimensions. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship. Ability to consistently produce quality welds. Ability to work in a production manufacturing environment. Reliable attendance and dependable work habits. Ability to safely lift and handle materials and components. Commitment to workplace safety and quality. Preferred Experience welding aluminum and stainless steel. TIG welding experience. Experience in marine, boat, automotive, trailer, or similar manufacturing. Experience fabricating production parts from drawings or templates. Experience with aluminum boat components or marine hardware. Experience with brake presses, bandsaws, plasma cutters, drill presses, or other fabrication equipment. Welding certifications are a plus but not required if the candidate can demonstrate strong practical welding skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a hands-on manufacturing position in the Carolina Skiff metal fabrication shop.
The job requires:
Standing and working on your feet for extended periods. Frequent use of hand and power tools. Welding and fabrication in various positions. Handling metal materials and fabricated components. Bending, reaching, lifting, and moving materials. Working around welding equipment, grinders, saws, and other fabrication machinery. Following required personal protective equipment and safety procedures.

From $20.00 per hour
