Welder Fitter

Job Description

Livermore, Kentucky
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Welder Fitter is responsible for assembling, fitting, and preparing metal components and structures in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The incumbent ensures that all components are accurately aligned and fitted prior to welding or final assembly while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. This position requires strong blueprint reading skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications. Measure, mark, cut, and fit metal components to required dimensions and tolerances. Assemble and align structural steel, plates, pipes, and other fabricated components. Verify dimensions and ensure proper fit-up before welding or final assembly. Operate hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment safely. Inspect completed assemblies to ensure compliance with quality requirements. Collaborate with welders, supervisors, and other production team members to meet production schedules. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in metal fabrication or a related trade is considered an asset. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a fitter, assembler, or metal fabrication role. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints. Strong knowledge of measuring instruments and fabrication techniques. Experience working with structural steel, plate work, or industrial fabrication. Ability to work accurately with minimal supervision. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Forklift or overhead crane certification is an asset. Ability to lift materials and work in a physically demanding environment. Commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork.
THIS ROLE IS FOR ME IF I
AM... ... a precise and methodical tradesperson who is comfortable working straight from a blueprint. I measure twice, I catch a bad fit-up before it reaches the welder, and I hold tolerances without needing someone looking over my shoulder. I work well with the people around me and I keep production moving without cutting corners on quality or safety. (USA) (CANADA) (USA)
