Summary The Welder is responsible for using various welding techniques to fabricate and assemble metal components and structures. This role requires a high level of skill and precision to ensure the quality and safety of the finished product. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding specifications. Set up and operate welding equipment, including selecting the appropriate welding process and filler materials. Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and cutting. Perform various welding techniques, such as shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), and flux-cored arc welding (FCAW). Inspect welded joints for quality and conformance to specifications. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a welding training program or apprenticeship. Certification in relevant welding processes preferred. Strong knowledge of welding techniques, equipment, and safety procedures. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols. Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects. Physical Demands Standing for long periods. Bending, stooping, and kneeling. Lifting and carrying heavy objects. Working in confined spaces. Exposure to heat, fumes, and noise. Work Environment Manufacturing or construction site. Exposure to welding sparks and fumes. Loud noise levels. Potential for burns and cuts. Safety Requirements Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmet, gloves, and safety shoes. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines. Report any safety hazards to supervisor.
