Position Summary Southeastern Transformer Company is seeking an experienced Welder / Fabricator to join our team in Dunn, NC. This is a hands-on industrial position involving the welding, cutting, fabrication, and repair of transformer tanks and other metal components used in our transformer repair and rebuilding operations. Applicants must have experience with multiple welding and cutting processes. Required Welding & Cutting Experience Applicants should have hands-on experience with: MIG Welding TIG Welding Wire Cutting Plasma Cutting Jet Arc Metal fabrication and repair Grinding, cutting, fitting, and preparing metal for welding Key Responsibilities Perform MIG and TIG welding on transformer tanks and other metal components. Perform wire cutting and plasma cutting as required. Perform Jet Arc work as required for repairs and fabrication. Cut, fit, modify, and fabricate metal components. Repair damaged, cracked, or leaking transformer tanks. Remove damaged welds and prepare areas for repair. Grind, clean, cut, and prepare metal surfaces before welding. Measure and fit materials accurately prior to welding and fabrication. Identify cracks, leaks, damaged areas, and other conditions requiring repair. Produce strong, clean, and consistent welds. Inspect completed welds and repairs for quality and workmanship. Safely operate welding machines, plasma cutters, grinders, cutting equipment, Jet Arc equipment, and other fabrication tools. Work with supervisors and other departments to determine required repairs. Follow work instructions, specifications, and company quality standards. Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas. Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE. Perform other welding, fabrication, and shop duties as assigned. Qualifications MIG welding experience required. TIG welding experience required. Wire cutting experience required. Plasma cutting experience required. Jet Arc experience required. Previous professional welding and fabrication experience. Ability to produce strong, clean, and consistent welds. Ability to identify welding defects and make necessary corrections. Ability to accurately measure, cut, fit, and prepare materials. Experience using grinders, cutting equipment, and common fabrication tools. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Ability to follow instructions and work independently. Ability to work safely in an industrial/shop environment. Transformer experience is a plus but not required. What We're Looking For We are looking for an experienced and versatile welder/fabricator who is comfortable working with MIG, TIG, wire cutting, plasma cutting, and Jet Arc. The ideal candidate should be able to evaluate damaged metal, properly prepare the area, select the appropriate welding or cutting process, complete the repair, and inspect the finished work for quality. Transformer experience is not required. We can train an experienced welder/fabricator on STC's transformer equipment and repair procedures.
