Roberts, WI Job Summary:

The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for reading blueprints, fabricating metal components, and performing MIG, TIG, and Stick (SMAW) welding to assemble structural components, equipment, and fabricated products. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with a variety of metals while ensuring all work meets quality, safety, and production standards. The Welder/Fabricator also operates fabrication equipment and material handling equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings. Cut, bend, shape, fit, and assemble metal components using fabrication equipment and hand tools. Perform MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), and oxy-acetylene welding according to project specifications. Operate fabrication equipment including plasma cutters, ironworkers, shears, drill presses, grinders, overhead cranes, and forklifts. Inspect completed welds to verify structural integrity, quality, and compliance with applicable welding standards. Fabricate components using various metals, including carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, and specialty alloys. Complete work orders, production documentation, and quality inspection records. Maintain fabrication equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and welding best practices. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to meet fabrication schedules and quality expectations. Perform additional fabrication and production duties as assigned. Education & Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of two years of welding and metal fabrication experience. Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick (SMAW) welding processes. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings. Experience operating fabrication equipment, hand tools, and heavy material handling equipment. Strong understanding of metal properties, fabrication techniques, and welding safety practices. Excellent craftsmanship, attention to detail, and mechanical aptitude. Ability to safely lift, move, and position fabrication materials. AWS (American Welding Society) certification preferred.

Physical & Mental Demands:

Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, handling tools, and performing repetitive fabrication tasks throughout the workday. Occasional climbing, kneeling, crawling, and lifting or moving materials weighing up to 25 pounds, with heavier materials moved using lifting equipment. Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity required for precision welding and fabrication. Ability to read technical drawings, follow detailed instructions, and maintain a high level of accuracy. Ability to safely operate welding equipment, cranes, forklifts, grinders, plasma cutters, and other fabrication machinery.

Work Environment:

Work is performed primarily in an indoor fabrication and manufacturing shop. Frequent exposure to welding sparks, heat, fumes, dust, loud industrial noise, moving machinery, and heavy equipment. Regular use of fabrication tools, welding equipment, overhead cranes, forklifts, and material handling equipment. Day shift position with no regular travel required. Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmets, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, and other equipment as required.
