Job Description

Adlai E. Stevenson High School (Lincolnshire, IL) is seeking a Communication Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year.
Description:
Stevenson High School District is seeking a creative, collaborative Communication Specialist to help tell the stories that make our school community unique. This position works within the Communications Department to develop and manage engaging content across e-newsletters, social media, and other digital channels while supporting districtwide storytelling and strategic communication initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and storyteller who understands how to use digital platforms and analytics to connect, inform, and engage our community. The Communication Specialist is a 10-month position for a total of 205 compensated days.

Qualifications:
BS in Computer Science, Design, Communications, or related field (Required)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages e-newsletter and social media communications to ensure alignment with the communications strategy Serves as the project coordinator for storytelling strategic initiatives (Stories of Stevenson), as identified through the communications strategy Assists in managing and prioritizing projects in alignment with the team's editorial calendar Monitors and leverages analytics to guide the team's response to communications needs and ultimately maintain good engagement across channels Monitors direct messaging channels (email and social media) to ensure questions are addressed and conversations meet our community standards Assists the Director of Communications with issues management, when necessary
Skills and Abilities:
Expertise with various e-newsletters and social media platforms required Strong storytelling, writing, and editing skills required Familiarity with operating and maintaining websites through content management systems preferred Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team Ability to work effectively with all members of the Stevenson community Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional discretion Working knowledge of HTML and other software programs preferred
Salary:
The successful candidate for this position can expect a starting hourly rate of at least $30.00 per hour, with compensation adjusted based on relevant skills and experience.
