1.0 Summary of Position Builds upon YSU's brand, communicates with varied audiences, field concerns, and monitors brand reputation through the University's social media platforms while keeping up with current events. Ensures the daily function of operations and services related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective.

Position Information Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Develops and manages the social media strategy for the university; builds a comprehensive social strategy around current branding, marketing goals and the university's mission; integrates social campaigns into overall marketing and communications strategies. Increases visibility and engagement on social channels; creates and repurposes content for social channels. Writes compelling, creative, and engaging copy for multiple social platforms, following brand guidelines, and responds with posts and direct messages as the voice of the brand. Consults with colleges and departments on social media strategies to promote best practices for social media content creation and collaborates on how best to plan and publish content. Produces and maintains campus-wide social media strategy, directory, and best practices guide; manages, monitors, and suggests edits to all official social media channels and postings used by colleges and departments; and manages all official user accounts for university social media purposes. Integrates enrollment marketing strategies into social media platforms using organic and paid channels; manages and reports analytic information to the University community. Develops analytic and reporting methods to measure performance of social media strategies. Creates campaign strategies using digital marketing platforms; builds advertising programs on multi-channel platforms; writes copy, coordinates imagery, graphics, and video; produces media for advertising campaigns. Stays up to date on current events and trending topics as well as social media trends, new features, and platforms, to provide innovative and engaging content ideas and implement new platforms into university marketing strategies. Provides support to colleges and departments regarding social media management. Develops and maintains relationships with internal collaborators and coordinates social content with other areas across campus. Plans, develops, and executes social media communications as part of the university crisis communication team. Works with the university police department to monitor, alert, and respond to community issues. Takes initiative to seek out on- and off-campus events to share over the university's social channels promoting the success of YSU's students, faculty, staff and alumni. Plans, schedules and conducts interviews of faculty, staff and students as needed to write engaging press releases and feature stories for the YSU News Center. Regularly communicates with supervisor and other staff, including student workers, as required or needed in the completion of daily tasks in support of overall goals and objectives. Prepares and maintains accurate records of daily tasks in accordance with applicable policies and procedures and assures timely communication with supervisor, staff, and students where appropriate. Gathers data and prepares reports and other information/documentation for supervisory review?related to programs and/or services, or one or more assigned components. Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; participates in staff development activities; attends meetings, conferences, and other events.

Other Functions and Responsibilities:

Assists with training new hires. Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

At least a bachelor's degree; two or more years of experience in social media management; experience maintaining multiple social media channels; and experience conducting interviews and writing press releases and/or feature stories.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in higher education and/or non-profit; experience with creating inbound traffic strategies and digital marketing funnels. Experience creating an effective social content calendar. Proficient in social media scheduling platforms and social monitoring. Understanding of social accessibility standards. Experience with crisis communications planning and implementation. Knowledge of AP style of writing.

Physical Requirements:

In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform sedentary work.

Sedentary:

Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
