A family in Wallingford is looking for a patient, dependable person to provide one-to-one support to an adult woman with autism. This is a part-time weekday position paying $35 per hour , with approximately 10-15 hours per week . Shifts are generally about three hours and can be scheduled Monday through Friday between approximately 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM . Applicants must have one of the following: Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education, Counseling, or Social Work RBT certification BCBA certification She is non-speaking and communicates using a letterboard and keyboard. She is intelligent, motivated, and enjoys arts and crafts, reading, exercise, volunteering, and getting out into the community. The worker will support her with communication, community activities, everyday independence, safety, and personal care when needed. The goal is to help her do more for herself while respecting her choices and preferences. Training will be provided on her communication style and the supports that work best for her. We are looking for someone who is patient, reliable, respectful, and able to maintain a consistent schedule. Experience supporting adults with autism or developmental disabilities is preferred. Applicants must also have a valid driver's license, current auto insurance, be able to complete required background checks, and provide professional references.
