Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association

Social Media Content Manager

Job Description

About SCVA The Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association is the destination marketing organization for Sullivan County, New York. We share meaningful stories about the region through our here editorial platform, website and social channels. The Role Sullivan Catskills is looking for a Social Media & Content Manager to drive and oversee all of our social media channels.
This is a management role:
you'll set the content strategy and calendar, brief and direct the people doing the production and engagement work, hold everything to a high bar for quality and brand fit, and own the analytics that tell us what's working. You'll need strong working knowledge of content development, visual design, production, and engagement best practices so you can brief, direct, and evaluate the people doing the work. Sharp organizational skills are required to run multiple workstreams and vendors at once, and genuine local knowledge of Sullivan County to keep our storytelling authentic and accurate. If you're also able to produce content yourself (i.e. reels and carousels) that's a strong plus, but the core of this role is developing the content and then managing the team and vendors who carry them through. What You'll Do Own and manage all Sullivan Catskills social media accounts (platforms may include Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and others as the strategy evolves). Develop and maintain a content calendar aligned to brand pillars and strategy. Direct content development from concept through production- researching information around the county's offering, shaping the messaging and visual style/tone, briefing photographers, videographers & designers, preproduction for shoots, and reviewing all work before it publishes. Manage the team members and vendors responsible for content production and community engagement: assign work, set expectations, review quality, and keep projects on schedule and on budget. Oversee the people monitoring day-to-day community engagement. Track and report on performance analytics across channels; use the data to refine content strategy and prove ROI. Ensure all content reflects Sullivan Catskills' brand voice and visual guidelines and stays consistent across channels. Identify and vet local stories, partners, hamlets, and events worth featuring, drawing on firsthand knowledge of Sullivan County. Collaborate with the Director of Brand, Film & Digital on broader marketing strategy, partner activations, and content initiatives. Stay current on social platform trends, algorithm changes, and best practices, and recommend new approaches as the landscape shifts. What You Bring Proven experience managing social media accounts professionally, ideally for a brand or agency. Experience managing people (staff, freelancers, or vendors) responsible for content production and community engagement, including briefing, scheduling, and quality review. Strong knowledge of content development, design, and production best practices across photo, video, and graphic formats, sufficient to brief and evaluate the work of others. Comfort with social media analytics and reporting tools, and the ability to translate data into strategy. Excellent organizational and project management skills- able to juggle multiple content workstreams, people, and deadlines at once. A strong eye for content; you know a good photo, a good caption, and a good hook when you see one, and can give clear, actionable feedback. Local knowledge of
