Job Description

The Digital Team within the Marketing and Communications office is seeking a detail-oriented student worker to support the ongoing management, optimization, and upkeep of the IUP website. In this role, you will work directly within the Cascade Content Management System (CMS) to execute everyday page updates, monitor web accessibility compliance, and implement SEO best practices to maintain a high-quality digital experience for the university community. Key responsibilities include managing URL redirects, reviewing page and department analytics, and assisting with various web maintenance and digital project tasks. This position offers excellent hands-on experience in higher education web administration, content management, and digital strategy for students interested in web development, marketing, or digital communication.
REQUIRED
: Basic familiarity with core web technologies, such as foundational
HTML/CSS
concepts or web content structures. Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail for proofreading and formatting content. Basic understanding of digital file management, browser navigation, and standard desktop productivity software. Ability to work independently, follow precise instructions, and maintain confidentiality regarding university digital assets.
PREFERRED
: Prior exposure to or interest in learning Content Management Systems (CMS) like Cascade, WordPress, and/or similar platforms. Basic interest or foundational awareness in web accessibility standards, search engine optimization (SEO), and/or web analytics. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple small digital updates efficiently. The department is interested in candidates who have communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members. Must be professional, reliable, and responsible. Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well during the interview(s). The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities: Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required. Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public Use a variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, video display terminals, auxiliary printers and similar equipment. Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits. Operate office equipment which may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing. Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers.
