Forge Relations

Social Media Manager

Job Description

Who is Forge Relations Forge Relations is a fast-growing, full-service marketing agency built within the firearms, defense, and outdoor industry. We operate as our clients' marketing department, executing from strategy/ideation to final result. Our clients trust us to build their brand voice and then embody that in the content we create. We are a tight team that works hard, moves fast, thrives in controlled chaos, and believes ownership is non-negotiable. We're not loud; we're the quiet partner behind the curtain for some of the most prestigious brands in this industry. The Job at a Glance You own the social presence for a slate of firearms, defense, and outdoor brands, including some of the largest accounts in the industry. You don't leave people hanging in the DMs or comments. Community is the job, and you love the engagement. You plan the calendar, write the captions, publish the posts, and answer the comments. Every brand has a documented voice, and you write in all of them. Multiple personalities required. You report results to clients monthly, in plain numbers, including the ones that didn't move. You work beside our designers, editors, and account managers, and the accounts are yours. You look at a flat account and can say why it's flat, then pick the one thing that fixes it. Posting more is not a strategy. You don't follow the standard. You set it. Role Overview Here's the honest version: you'll be managing some of the largest social accounts in this industry, and a mistake can't happen. Social media is the new horizon, and in 2026 an Instagram page is a company's homepage. Our clients trust us with theirs.
We set the bar high:
we're seeing some clients' growth top 150,000 new followers in a month, and 20 to 30 million monthly views isn't abnormal here. Can you keep up? Better, can you top it? You will, by refusing to run the standard playbook: you obsess over the data, run trial reels, test, experiment, and adjust on the fly, and you know each customer persona well enough to call which ideas deserve the shot. You've done this long enough to know trends change and to never get locked in on one idea. Some of your ideas are going to suck. Owning that and trying the next thing is the job. And here's the problem this seat exists to solve, because we haven't cracked it: how do you take personality and connect it at scale? Social is one piece of the puzzle, and you won't live in your own box. You're a strategist, and you'll make sure the messaging stays uniform across email, social, ads, and everything else, with the social component ready every time. This job also takes multiple personalities. You'll be a high-volume firearms giant in the morning and a specialized trauma-gear company in the afternoon, and neither audience can ever catch you switching. And you get that audiences on social are different: you're there to build a community and a brand, not to sell. There will be late nights. If that sounds exhausting, this isn't your job. If it sounds like the most interesting problem in social media, keep reading. What You Will Own The content calendar and strategy for each of your brands. Captions, publishing, and community management, day in and day out. Each brand's voice. You'll develop it, sharpen it, and defend it. Two of your brands will sound nothing alike, and both have to sound exactly right. Monthly reports that tell the client what worked and what changes next month. Ideas. You bring the trend to the table before anyone asks, with a plan to execute it. Organic growth that shows up in the numbers, month over month. You'll live in the data and get nit-picky about what's working and why. The platform rulebook for a restricted industry: knowing what gets a firearms brand throttled or taken down, and staying ahead of it. The bigger picture. Messaging stays uniform across email, social, ads, and everything else, and the social component is ready every time. The quarterly plan for each brand, and the reasoning behind it. You decide what the account is chasing this quarter and which work actually serves it, then defend the call to a client who disagrees. What we stop doing. The series nobody watches, the format that quit working. You make that call with the evidence in hand, and the client hears it from you first. Key Responsibilities Content and Publishing Plan and run monthly content calendars across Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, plus whatever else each brand runs. Write captions in each brand's documented voice, with perfect grammar. This audience notices. Coordinate graphics and video with our creative team and get them live on schedule. Community and Growth The DMs and comments. You don't leave people hanging, even when it's five conversations at once at 11 pm. Spot what's moving on each account and double down while it's moving. Test formats deliberately and keep only what earns its place. Reporting and Client Work Build the monthly social report for each of your brands. Bring the account manager the bad news first, with your fix attached. Know the legal and platform lines for guns on social cold, and find the edge that works inside them. Requirements This is not an entry-level role. You've done this professionally, and where you are now has stopped challenging you. 3+ years running brand social accounts professionally, agency or in-house. Organic growth you can prove with numbers. You'll show us the accounts. Strong writing, perfect grammar, and serious attention to detail. A typo on one of these accounts gets screenshotted. Experienced with the legal nuances of guns on social. You've sat in on the calls with the company lawyer about what you can't post or say, and you've figured out how to find the edge that still works. Self-directed. You get ownership and a deadline, and nobody standing over your shoulder. You think past the platform. You've built a social plan around what the business was chasing that quarter, and you can walk us through the plan and what it returned. Ideal Candidate Gun nerd at heart. You spend too much time watching gun-tubers, and you can name the ones worth learning from. Some call you a meme lord, others just call you weird. You know when to turn it on and when to turn it off. You're up late working five DM conversations at once like it's a dating app, except it's five bearded grown men and you're nerding out about guns. Did we just become best friends? Exactly. You dry fire between calls. You've inherited a flat account and turned it around. Tell us that story when you apply. You shoot or edit simple content yourself when the moment calls for it. You use AI tools to move faster and know exactly where they fail. You're already in this industry, bored where you are, and itching for more. The team is the reason you'll stay. Good people who embrace the suck together and double down when it gets hard. You stopped calling this a job a long time ago.
